I made a liquid metal ion thruster so you don't have to ☺️

(it was very difficult 😩)

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@sawaiz Awesome, thanks for the tips! Well outside my comfort zone is here ♥️

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

My experience trying to get a sensitive photodiode + TIA working:

1. photons get into everything
2. connections need to be approximately 0mm long to keep noise to a minimum. Better yet make the lengths imaginary just to be safe.

😐

@ScourgeOfZeus Interferometer!

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

Hard-won squiggles but we got there in the end

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@palaceofhats But I need the sensitivity 😭

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@GhostOfFrederic Woah! Those things are crazy, never seen them before!

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@minusYCore @yacineMTB Yep. Giant delay-line memory. Might make sense for stuff with predictable access patterns (i.e. layer weights, stuff like that) where you need huge bandwidth and moderately large size.

Still doesn't really pencil out imo, but fun to theorycraft 🙂

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@Praise_Kelechi_ Thanks! Was a fun project :)

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

Crazy that we live in a time to watch a (presumably hostile) satellite interception from ground telescopes. COSMOS is within a few km of ICEYE here. 😬

Gorgeous footage though!

[s2a systems @s2a_systems]

Short time-lapse of part of this morning’s first pass of ICEYE-X36 (59103) and COSMOS 2612 (68762) over South America under partly cloudy skies.

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@ScourgeOfZeus Ooh I like that, clever way to get a flexure without a lot of fabrication difficulty!

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

Hey friends! I made possibly the world's smallest animatronic eye?

Fun little engineering project, full of custom electromagnetic actuators! Small things are hard!

when you need to lock tf in and finish editing but have had too much caffeine for the day

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@kbdznxawyu @geerlingguy I mean, the Micronics guys didn't need to sell either.

Never understood why Formlabs got the hate when it was Micronics acquihiring themselves. 🤷

(also, having worked with DMLS, their machine would have been a nightmare to actually use. It _was not_ ready to sell)

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@Mannananba Haha a letterpress trading card machine sounds fun 😄

Or cards with real holograms

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

Ads rates vary hugely across niches. I don't know anything about trading cards, but I assume videos monetize well

In contrast, science/engineering can be quite low. I have 580k subs. This video is 20min long, 2.5m views. $6k revenue over two years

Not all channels make bank 😐

[Joe @MarinefordTCG]

This is not specifically about jaiden but YouTube pays way more than most YouTubers would want you to know. I have like 12k subs and the revenue covers my rent/food etc. this is not a brag post, please never feel compelled to give money to YouTubers outside the ad revenue.

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@MaxLobovsky Congrats on the launch! Studio 1 looks amazing, love all the little ease-of-use features packed into the machine 😍

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

@ZECTBynmo Have actually tried out that encoder setup for a work project, it works really well! Some calibration and alignment issues but really nice trick 👌

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

Alright I think this revision actually has a chance of working.

Limited angle torque motors ftw!

Now to add a hall sensor and repeat the whole mess for the second coil/axis.

[BreakingTaps @BreakingTaps]

Not taking pot shots at anyone fwiw! Happy to see fellow creators making a good living!

Just wanted to raise awareness that everyone is not automatically a Mr Beast billionaire just because they have a YT channel and a few successful videos.
