When we call something queerbaiting, we're essentially saying: "source material X doesn't count as real or valid queer representation." Here is a thread on why we need to be cognizant about which real-life queer people & stories we're erasing when we expand our use of that term.

@DestnToast @elizabethminkel @readingtheend An approach to this occurred to me, but it rests on a p big assumption... might be interesting to look at what % of the works in these two fandoms are AUs. I hypothesize that AUs tend to reduce moral ambiguity (i.e. baristas not murderers) & that KE has a larger % than Hannibal.

I'll be in the dead last group, though—which is also a privilege of course, to be young, healthy, & able to work from home indefinitely.

Mostly RL has just been very intense over the past year—several deaths close to me, massively triggering work stuff, my state being on fire, mental health challenges, etc. But hopefully things are looking up.
