Big news: we are setting up a new non-profit organization to run bioRxiv and medRxiv. It's called openRxiv [no it's not a new preprint server; it's a dedicated organization to oversee the servers] https://t.co/4siujZbXxF 1/n
🎉bioRxiv & medRxiv are now managed by openRxiv, a new independent nonprofit. This transition allows for more flexibility and innovation. Our community-centered mission remains being a free service to authors ensuring rapid sharing of scientific information before peer review. 🧵
As the public's relationship with cannabis changes, so should national policy. Again, we call on public health officials to do more to educate the public on the potential harms of cannabis use, especially on the brain 🧠

Grad students work hard, but claiming 80+ hours/week as the norm grossly misrepresents reality and risks normalizing burnout. For those applying to PhD programs: don’t be discouraged—successful research doesn’t require sacrificing your health or life outside the lab.
There are too many bio PhD positions. Few of these graduates are able to obtain a PI position. Universities only train so many because they are cheap labor who will work 80 plus hours a week for 60 grand.
Dr. Yasmin Hurd @neurovoice, Director of the Addiction Institute @icahnmountsinai, speaks about the risks involved w/ Cannabis use and the need for parents to have open conversations w/ their children...the sooner the better. @MountSinaiPsych
No joke - I must have hard coded every example from that book at least five times when I was learning - spent countless hours/days/nights. Now all you gotta do is ask #ChatGPT….
No shade to Andersen.Paak (nothing but hits), but Perl programmers have been belting out Hello, World! since the ‘90s if not earlier. #Coding#Bioinformatics
Survivorship bias skews our perception of success—many who worked just as hard never made it. While effort and skill are essential, randomness plays a role. The lesson? Control what you can: cultivate expertise, adapt, and persist.
More than 40 percent of #postdocs leave academia. Those who landed a coveted faculty position were more likely to have had a highly cited paper, changed their research topic between their #PhD and postdoc, or moved abroad after receiving their doctorate. https://t.co/SkU2JVisuu @PNASNews -> https://t.co/GZKmXombKN #ScienceCareer
What an end to the year! Our work is out in @NAR_Open! 🎉 We mapped #interactomes of both #ADAR1 isoforms during homeostasis & #interferon response.
