If Apple's costs increase by 50% due to tariffs, and it now costs them $730, they will still charge $1600 for an iPhone because that is the most consumers have demonstrated they will pay.

In this case Trump's China tariff is essentially nationalizing 30% of Apple's profit margin and claiming it as their own.
