After over an hour of waiting, to receive a notification like this is a shambles @NandosUK & @DeliverooHelp . Money not back for 3 days and just an apology from Deliveroo once called. No take away tonight then…
NEW - THE VIP FILES
Part One 🔍🗄️📂
I'm working with @goodlawproject on never before seen data about the VIP PPE Lane.
#TheVIPFiles today...
🔹 £3.8 billion contracts for Tory associates and donors for just PPE through the VIP Lane and the govt went further
🔹It turns out the Government massively overpaid on stock through the VIP Lane too....by at least £925 MILLION.
🔹On average the cost per item of PPE through the VIP LANE was 80% MORE than through the USUAL NHS supplier channels.
🔹Sometimes it was much higher.
🔹For instance, the price of a protective gown through standard suppliers at that time was £5.87.
🔹Through the VIP Lane, Meller Designs Ltd was paid more than twice the price at £12.64 per gown.
🔹The company made unprecedented profit that year.
🔹David Meller (of Meller Designs) an associate of Michael Gove, has donated almost £70,000 to the Conservative party since 2009.
🔹More than a quarter of the VIP Lane stock WAS UNUSABLE.
🔹Another company based offshore in a tax haven received an enormous contract and yet £145 million of their stock was useless. The referral for that company to the VIP LANE came from a Tory adviser to Liz Truss.
🔹All these contracts were given preferential treatment even tho most had no previous experience in PPE.
🔹A company was 10 times more likely to get OUR money through the VIP Lane than through being a usual NHS PPE supplier.
@RachelReevesMP has committed to appointing a Covid Corruption Commissioner if Labour wins the next election.
We'll be passing our discoveries to her.

The headline: New 5% higher price cap means people will pay more this Jan THAN ANY WINTER BEFORE.
New 3mthly Price Cap Figures: From 1 Jan you'll pay 5% more on average (every £100 paid now goes to £105). For direct debit on average across UK:
ELEC: Unit rate: 28.62p/kwh (currently 27.35p) so up 4.6%. Standing charge unchanged at 53.37p
GAS: Unit rate: 7.42p/kwh (currently 6.89p) so up 7.6%. Standing charge unchanged at 29.6p7p
So bigger rises for gas households than electricity and proportionately bigger for higher users (due to impact of unit rates).
Yet the reason you'll pay so much more is as last winter every home got £66/mth govt reduction. You don't have that this winter. So while Oct 'inflation dropped due to cheaper energy bills' - that ignores the missing govt support, in reality we're paying more for energy...
For a home on typical use (meaningless figure but good for illustration)...
Jan 2023: £2,380/yr
Jan 2024: £1,928/yr
So per month (not seasonally adjusted)
Jan 2023: £198/mth
Jan 2024: £160/mth
Now factor in govt support
Jan 2023: £198 - £66 = £132/mth
Jan 2024: £160/mth
In other words a typical home pays £28/mth more this winter, or factor in seasonal adjustments due to high winter use and as a back of envelope calculation it is more like £45more.
This is wonderful…
At 100,000 signatures, this petition of people calling for an election will have to be considered for debate in Parliament
After Sunak said NOBODY wanted one
…it’s currently at 61,000 on Day 2!
Do your thing, Twitter x
Govt will stop policies that don’t exist
And now…
They will also extend tram lines that have already been extended.
