The people of Louisiana pay taxes and taxes fund the university itself. I’m forever indebted to the working-class people of Louisiana. It is their university too. They have every right to be LSU Fans. Without those fans who watch religiously and fill stadiums, generation after generation, the SEC would never have ended up with the broadcasting contracts that have made our athletic departments fully self-funding.

In 1931, LSU became the first school to light their stadium so that local farmers could attend games after working all day. It ignores the tradition of the SEC to discount the working class fans who don’t necessarily have the means or opportunity to attend their state’s flagship school. It’s elitist and denies future generations the opportunity to envision themselves as student or players. The inclusivity of SEC football is one of the great enduring legacies of Southern Populism and should always be embraced.

68% of Ole Miss students are from out of state and many have little connection to actual Mississippians. They would never understand. This is why Vaught-Hemingway is so fucking small... Like Ole Miss dicks.
