My son, Jon Bretan, just completed the 100 mile Western State Ultra Run from Tahoe to Auburn this morning, Sunday, June 30, 2024. He accomplished this in less than 24 hours. Sooooo Proud of him. That is almost four marathons in a row.
Congratulations to the physicians honored for their groundbreaking contributions to California in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Physicians as healers are often on the front lines of acts of gun violence, but today they faced the threat in a space that should be devoted to peace and healing. This cannot stand - #CMADocs call for reform to end this terrible epidemic of cutting precious lives short.
@CMAdocs@bretanmd Thank you so much for your leadership, Dr @bretanmd 🙏🏻 you’ve led us through some of the toughest times & have been a mentor to younger physicians. ❤️
.@bretanmd notes the accomplishments of @AsmMarcLevine, including leadership on legislation to promote cost-free prostate cancer screening in California. @TheAACU is proud to present Assemblymember Levine our Distinguished Leadership Award. #AACUMeeting

This is not a new idea. The Newsom Administration is simply extending existing public health protections to cover this new disease, which has caused so much pain and suffering across our state, our nation and the entire globe over the last 18 months.
#CMADocs strongly support Gov. Newsom’s common-sense action to protect our students, teachers & school staff. We are proud that CA continues to put public health first & urge all who are eligible to get their COVID-19 vaccines as soon as possible. https://t.co/ozSkQn3ibg
On National Physician Suicide Awareness Day, we need to discuss the #mentalhealth issues that impact so many physicians, and to help everyone prevent physician suicide. Click our link to sign the petition & find resources. #NPSADay https://t.co/e5cDZqVEsJ
The Los Angeles Unified School District took a bold and important step toward protecting public health, and the health of students, teachers and school employees.
Requiring student COVID vaccines is the best way to keep our schools safe & ensure that campuses remain open for in-person education. #CMADocs applaud @LASchools for their leadership & we hope that other school districts and businesses will follow suit. https://t.co/Esan9CjnSb
The Supreme Court set a dangerous precedent by allowing SB8 to go into effect in Texas without any Constitutional review. The law is a gross legislative overreach and subjugates the patient-physician relationship to the whims of partisan politics.
#CMADocs support passing @RepJudyChu's Women’s Health Protection Act to ensure women get the reproductive health care they need, and that physicians and other health care providers can offer that care without fear of their personal safety or well-being. https://t.co/yP56glHkxa
Medical reasons/situations for a #maskexemption are exceedingly rare. We need immediate action to ensure bad actions are not putting members of the public at risk.
#CMADocs President Dr. Peter N. @BretanMD has put out a statement on recent reports of rogue physicians selling #MaskExemptions, putting their communities in danger. https://t.co/jKPKJDs7eq
"Unvaccinated people put all of us at risk," said #CMADocs President Dr. Peter N. @BretanMD. "CMA fully supports vaccination requirements for all employees and physicians in health care settings." https://t.co/sW3i86yfWK
Ensuring all of us are vaccinated against COVID-19 sends a strong message that the safety of our patients and our colleagues is top priority. It is a duty that comes with our responsibility as people who care for others.
NEW: CA will have the strongest state vaccine verification system in the US and will require state employees & healthcare workers to provide proof of vaccination—or get tested regularly.
We’re experiencing a pandemic of the unvaccinated. Everyone that can get vaccinated—should.
We will continue to do all we can to help convince all Californians that vaccines are safe, effective and critical as we come together to bring this pandemic to an end.
We can all do more to keep each other safe. Ensuring that all health care workers are protected against COVID-19 will help put patients at ease and will help us bring this deadly pandemic to an end. https://t.co/LTxq2Mqms4
