@EsotericCD lol, you couldn’t be more wrong. Chicagoans are overwhelmingly against giving handouts to the Bears. Chicagoans also realize a lakefront stadium like the Bears wanted was never feasible because of a popular charter from over 100 years ago to keep the lakefront free and clear
@RaidersFC2002 95% percent of rental units in Chicago are currently occupied and more people move here every year. Did New Yorkers move to Jersey to be near their stadium. San Franciscans to Santa Clara? Americans also hate living near data centers and fight them all the time. So no.
@JeromeyR0me Yeah but as bad as it is we still get to live in a world class city with world class amenities as opposed to a hot, boring, soulless tech center like Austin so mind your business
@HeinekenHal@Ecnerwal23 Ha, says the guy who thinks it’s a spelling error and not a typo. Even if it was misspelled beyond belief, that’s such a lame ass comeback. But keep on carrying water for billionaires you sorry sack of shit.
@suggerson@DanProft What jobs? Minimum wage part time staffing jobs. Oh no, what will Chicago do without them. Also, Soldier Field will still draw far more concerts and events than some dome in Hammond and that’s not even a question
@epyke25@ScotBertram Indy is a great host and isn’t in an industrial wasteland. And yes the media did bitch about both Indy and Detroit hosting it. I also don’t see tourists dying to take a trip to Indy because they hosted a Super Bowl. Most people have already forgotten it
@RobElgasABC7@aaron_renn Yes but popularity of the final four is declining and there has been chatter about it moving to regular basketball arenas in the future. Certainly not a given. But either way, the possibility of a final four is hardly worth billions in subsidies
