@LeciJ_ Plus most teachers are accommodating if you just talk to them. Parents if you have an issue with how a teacher is handling something have a private conversation don't disrupt your own kid and other kids learning out of emotion.
@LeciJ_ It's fine to eat snacks if a child can handle it but not full-blown meals. Most children under 7 don't have the ability to multitask just yet so for my Kindergarten babies I'm asking that breakfast happens before class starts.
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I create strategic setting arrangements, give a lot of opportunities to move around throughout my block, utilize hands-on activities and videos as well as being very accessible. #AltRtEd#SpEd
@MrsRoachScience@RutgersAltRoute I love the idea of differentiated instruction becoming the norm. It helps to make sure that no one is being singled out since, like one of the videos said, everyone has strengths and weaknesses in how they learn. #SpEd#AltRtEd
@RutgersAltRoute A3: By creating a space and learning environment that caters to more than one learning style and keeping communication open with scholars to know what they need vs what you think they need. #AltRtEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute A2: I empower my students by never making them feel like they are a subcategory or "not the norm". I make sure they feel valued, encouraged, and included. #AltRtEd#SpEd
@RutgersAltRoute A1:Being a new teacher I felt insecure developing a learning environment in general & felt even more unprepared once I learned of all of my student's individual needs. I felt as if I was underqualified to give some scholars the attention and modifications they deserved. #AltRtEd
@RutgersAltRoute A7: I keep three things in mind: learning objectives: What do I want students to know how to do when they leave this course? Assessments: What kinds of tasks will reveal whether students have achieved the learning objectives? and Instructional strategies #AltRtEd#growthmindset
@RutgersAltRoute A7: It's important to give various styles of assessments so that scholars that don't do well on the traditional style have an opportunity to excel and build confidence! Also, challenging the scholars who have mastered just getting the A traditionally. #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A6: Feedback has to absolutely be timely and specific to really be effective. Also, positive framing as well! When correcting a student you should be simultaneously encouraging them as well. Giving them hope and confidence for future assignments. #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I always make sure that I include "yet"! This is so vital when giving corrections and critique because although a student might not have mastered it yet it shows my confidence that they absolutely will in the future! #AltRtEd#GrowthMindset
