@Vivek4real_ Why are they paying preferred dividends with USD instead of BTC? Isn’t that the point of investing in BTC? As a hedge?
Nobody has answered this one yet.
@Rajatsoni Maybe the BtC funds should pay their preferred dividends with BTC instead of USD. Isn’t that the point of BTC, as a hedge against USD? I guess what they say is true, cash is king.
@Rajatsoni Still haven’t gotten a good explanation why these funds don’t pay preferred dividends with BTC instead of USD. Isn’t that the point of BTC, as a hedge against the USD?
@bitcoinwell@olvelez007 Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I’m against BTC but do have questions about the underlying use case. When liquidity is needed they liquidate BTC which seems counterintuitive if it’s a hedge against USD in the first place. They pay dividends with USD. That seems incongruent 2me
@bitcoinwell@olvelez007 Nobody has provided an answer for my dividend observation. The reason these funds are facing a liquidity crunch is they need to liquidate BTC for USD to pay preferred dividends. Why not just pay the dividend with BTC? If it is better than USD?
@bitcoinwell@olvelez007 You miss my point. You don’t create a capital gain taxable event when you use USD to purchase a good/service. You will pay a sales tax but you will pay that same sales tax when you exchange BTC for USD to purchase the good/service plus a hefty 15-20% federal capital gain tax
@bitcoinwell@olvelez007 You buy groceries, pay rent/mortgage, utilities, go to dinner, the movies, etc etc directly with BTC?
And it’s not currency because when and if you use it you have a capital gains tax due. Do you not? BTC always must be calculated in USD to assign a true exchangeable value.
