🚨BREAKING: Secretary Rubio just brokered a historic framework peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon, right here in Washington, D.C.
The deal is simple: Iran is out. Hezbollah is out. The Lebanese military moves in.
Israel begins withdrawing from southern Lebanon. Lebanon takes back control of its own soil. And for the first time in decades, a real path to peace is on the table.
America made this happen.

Today, I had the honour of chairing the 1354th Ministerial Meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism in Africa.
During our deliberations, I stressed that the evolving threat of terrorism demands a coordinated, sustained and multidimensional continental response. I underscored the importance of strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing cross-border intelligence and information sharing, building capable national institutions, addressing the root causes of radicalization through socio-economic empowerment of women and youth, and disrupting the financing of terrorism and transnational organized crime.
I further called for sustained support for African-led peace operations, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2719, and the adoption of the African Union Comprehensive Continental Strategic Plan of Action on Countering Terrorism in Africa (2026–2030) as a framework to strengthen Africa’s collective capacity to prevent and counter terrorism.
Together, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to a peaceful, secure and resilient Africa through collective action, solidarity and African-led solutions.

This morning, I joined the people of West Nile and the entire nation to mourn Gen. Moses Ali , and laid a wreath on his coffin at Parliament. He made an important contribution to Uganda’s history. He rejected the brutality of Idi Amin’s regime, worked with us in the struggle for freedom, promoted peace and remained committed to the development of West Nile.
Gen. Ali understood that peace and development go together. I therefore appeal to the leaders in West Nile and the whole country that they should continue working hard to raise household incomes and achieve prosperity. I thank him for his service to Uganda and pray that his soul rests in eternal peace.
