@hansjohnsonlive No. I gave you an example of a promise Trump made constantly that never had a chance of coming to fruition, and you claimed that a different set of circumstances made that promise unnecessary. He was still trying to get the wall built (with U.S. $) his entire first term.
@hansjohnsonlive That's a lovely 17th Century fantasy. Manufacturing will go to other lesser developed countries without tariffs long before it is ever onshored. The cheaper alternatives are seldom going to be U.S. made.
@hansjohnsonlive Tariffs on imported goods are paid by the American importers and their customers. They are a tax on American businesses and consumers. Pretty simple analogy.
@MikeJATP@Sporaticus_@LindseyBoylan@elonmusk If their supply is cut off (which it won't ever be by these tariffs) and the overwhelming demand still exists, they will certainly find a way to manufacture fentanyl or something to take its place. Do you really not understand how pure black market capitalism works?
@MikeJATP@Sporaticus_@LindseyBoylan@elonmusk Are you saying American workers and drug entrepreneurs don't have the intelligence and wherewithal to compete with the Mexicans and Chinese? Do you not believe in American exceptionalism?
@MikeJATP@Sporaticus_@LindseyBoylan@elonmusk I'm saying I hope that it results in exactly what the goal of protectionist tariffs always is: making American consumers switch to American manufactured alternatives like Fentanyl produced by hard working U.S. citizens in U.S. facilities. Do you not understand Mercantalism?
@MikeJATP@Sporaticus_@LindseyBoylan@elonmusk Attacking the supply side of illegal drugs has worked incredibly well to end drug use in this country over the last 50+ years. I'm sure this time will work, though.
@frickeville@KarmaTharase@Angry_Staffer If you believe moving a 401k to cash means withdrawing funds and incurring a penalty, there's a high probability you are not as educated as you seem to think.
