@cathywilcox1 Everything in public policy in Australia has now been monetised in a deeply inadequate way. All press releases start with a $ sign as if throwing a sometimes random amount of money at something is solution. So hopeless. And most media can only cope with this very simplistic idea.
@Peter_Fitz The institutional question that should be constantly discussed here is the massive massive gap between the de facto power and influence of Ministerial staffers and the fact they remain constitutional non-entities in our public sector systems and laws.
@VaughanMcAlley @dmejiacanales Mum (older Caucasian woman in appearance) ate at a hole-in-the-wall Box Hill Chinese restaurant once. She was wondering what to have and the older Asian restauranteur said “you a hot-sour lady”. Mum loved the meal.
In "The Martian" (2015) the Rocket gets rattled by a raging wind storm forcing them to launch from Mars without Mark Watney. But at only 1% that of Earth, the Martian atmosphere is so thin, 100 mph winds would feel like a gentle breeze.
@rup31 @thecouchcoach05 @LarryButtrose@Peter_Fitz@AusRepublic Yes, but dreaming of a better future by replacing Lizzie with a sportsman or reality TV Star is pure phantasy.
@GrogsGamut@beeso And when the ‘cost’ is assessed it tends to come back in fiscal estimates - short term accounting entries - of itself, a deeply inadequate way of thinking about cost in public economics.
@DerrenBrown If you can’t put this one all the way down, all the way deep, all the way fast asleep, then surely it is no better evidence that you are a (very skilled) showman in the human world and not a sorcerer.
@rup31@Ollieospring@sacdefromage@pamelacurr@FlickReynolds I’m not a parent, so no nothing directly, but observing from the outside, I’ve seen the stern look or sharp verbal rebuke work very well, if used judiciously by the parents, and instilled into the child as part of the toolkit of discipline they should expect for misdemeanours.
@VaughanMcAlley @Carly_Solstice @EbonySecombe This is true: I’m amazingly proficient at doing nothing. The 80s for sentimentality when it comes to movies, music etc; but definitely not when it comes to politics or fashion. (43yo)
