Katwe Police Division has successfully arrested 13 youths suspected of involvement in robberies within the division, particularly in the Kikajjo area.

Acting on credible intelligence, a team of 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 officers moved swiftly to the scene. During interrogation, two suspects Waniale Nathan and Mugobera Emma confessed to participating in criminal activities. @AigpDamulira @Mwesigwa_Frank1

Three pangas (machetes) were recovered, hidden inside a chapati business container at the location. The weapons were exhibited and taken to Katwe Police Station.

NEWS: Mbale District NRM Boss, Wambogo Pleads with President Museveni to Forgive Ex-Speaker Among.

In a bold and compassionate intervention that has sent ripples through Uganda’s political circles, Mbale District NRM Chairman Wambogo Moses has publicly urged President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to forgive former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and allow her to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment.

Speaking to our reporter one on one, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Wambogo described Among as a leader who, despite her recent controversies and mistakes, rendered significant service to the ruling party, particularly during the 11th Parliament and in mobilizing votes for the President.

“No matter all the mistakes Hon. Among did, she also had good things she did for NRM,” Wambogo stated. “Most especially in the 11th Parliament and in vote hunting for President Museveni. We are requesting the President to forgive her and allow her to go and get treatment. She is one of us.”

The impassioned appeal comes at a time when questions have swirled about Among’s health and her ability to access specialized medical care.

Sources close to the former Speaker indicate she has been battling a serious medical condition that requires advanced treatment unavailable locally, prompting calls from allies for humanitarian consideration.

Among’s Turbulent Tenure and Contributions:

Anita Among rose to prominence as Deputy Speaker before assuming the role of Speaker of the 11th Parliament following the dramatic removal of Jacob Oulanyah. Under her leadership, the House passed several landmark bills championed by the NRM government, including key economic and governance reforms.

Party insiders credit her with maintaining party discipline on critical votes and spearheading grassroots mobilization efforts in the eastern region that bolstered Museveni’s support base in the 2021 elections.

However, her tenure was not without controversy. Among faced intense scrutiny over alleged corruption, lavish lifestyle accusations, and parliamentary decisions that drew criticism from opposition figures and civil society. In recent months, she has maintained a relatively low profile amid ongoing investigations and public debates about accountability in high office.

Wambogo Mose, an influential figure in Mbale’s NRM structures known for his grassroots mobilization skills, framed his plea not as an endorsement of any alleged wrongdoing, but as a call for mercy and recognition of past loyalty.

“Every human being makes mistakes,” he added. “But when someone has contributed to the party and the President’s success, we should not abandon them in their hour of need. Let her go and treat herself. That is the NRM way – we look after our own.”

The appeal has elicited mixed reactions within the party. Some senior NRM members have quietly supported the call, emphasizing that internal party matters should be handled with “brotherhood and sisterhood.” Others, however, insist that ongoing accountability processes must take precedence, warning against setting precedents that could undermine anti-corruption efforts.
