Predominantly women lead sector. Stuck in historical fee freezes. Core funding has failed many small and medium services. A full investigation needed to happen now as to why these services are closing down @thejournal_ie @isme_ie https://t.co/3mwz1jAfKe
Providing quality ECEC is costly however the real issue is the lack of Gov investment. Currently ECEC/ SAC gets €1.37bn annually while the gov gives horse & dog racing €1.8 bn. Clearly the governments priorities don't lie with children @IrishTimesLaura

@MaryMoloneyie@drivetimerte Realisation of Children's Rights across every aspect of their lives(as you stated for the under 3's) needs to be addressed. Successive Governments have let children down Adults need to inform themselves about childrens rights so we can all advocate for our children
With focus again in budget on "cheap childcare" ignoring viability for ECEC services the dept have put the final nail in many sm services the writing is clearly on the wall now. ECEC is not valued & being gambled for votes SHAMEFUL €9 mill for phone cases zero to save preschools
Credit to @rodericogorman for doubling investment in ECEC in 4 years. However the proposed €1.2bn in #Budget2025 is below the recommended 1% investment. We need a long term plan for ECEC - birth - 6 yrs - that is respectful of existing infrastructure

The terminology of 'Childcare operator' 'childcare business' is infuriating @Todaywithclaire. It is divisive and attaches no value to the care/education of babies & toddlers. Our educators are part of an ECEC profession in which, our youngest children, from birth have rights.
Wonderful high quality small and medium services closed their doors last week and no one in the @dcediy has supported these services or the families that now have no place in September. The future of our sector must be addressed at Government level now. @FederationEarly
Today is a very sad day for this sector. So many high quality services will close their doors for the last time. It is just so wrong. Lack of Government funding should not be a reason to close your doors but it is happening today nationwide. Why did you not fixthe issues @dcediy

Stop treating a female led sector in this way. These are some of the main points in our petition looking for the discrimination to stop. Legal advice is very clear yet we’re being ignored. @MurphyDunne@SenatorKeogan@emer_currie1@HollyCairnsTD
We are working with a service in rural Ireland that has been forced to potentially close the end of the month. 120 families with no where to go. This has to stop. Fundamentally funding and staffing are the biggest issues. urgent funding is needed @FederationEarly
It's time for ECEC services to down tools staff and Providers for as long as necessary. ERO is a failed mechanism as is core funding model. Too many dedicated providers & staff being lost. We don't have time for the nonsense of above. @FederationEarly @dcediy #saveoursector
@MurphyDunne@FederationEarly 3 people called to book yesterday for Sep all just assumed it was a matter of just dropping in other services in our area full too. There are no ECCE places! It's obvious funding an issue if it wasn't there would be loads of places! It's not rocket science @dcediy @rodericogorman
@LemonsforLemon1@sharononeill3@PitkinLara@story4thinking@rodericogorman The list is endless. We have spoken to so many providers who areclosing their doors this year and next year. Funding has crippled them. We are subsidising our businesses through any means we can. CF failed us all. Wake up @rodericogorman before it’s to late. Stop 🛑 the closures
@MaryMag86999606 @rodericogorman@DarraghIsHere & @acpire also need to speak up. The impact of the flawed CF policy is evident on the ground now corporate services expanding, sm services closing, Parents being forced by same corporate groups to take FDC or PT as ECCE not viable. Time to correct serious flaws
@mcginty5179@rodericogorman Purely down to the new funding model which has made sessional or part time places unviable, the government want you to work all hours God sends & leave your child in creche as long as possible. They don't care about family friendly options
I’m a member of the first generation who will be worse off than our parents. This did not happen by accident. Political choices made by successive Governments have resulted in the aspirations and dreams of an entire generation being either diminished or destroyed. @HollyCairnsTD
I saw someone Joke "Nile Rodgers must be registered in Ireland as a multinational corporation and that’s why he plays here so much”. Well, he is founder of Hipgnosis, an investment fund that buys music catalogues & that fund is owned by Blackstone. Irelands biggest vulture fund
Reinstating the internationally accepted term
Early Childhood Education and Care is so important.
One recent publication on ECEC in Ireland used Early Years Care, Early Years Education, EY and SAC Care. This is too confusing. #ECEC is universally understood. #ECECnotELC
The disconnect between those working on the ground in Early Education & those meant to be leading the sector gets wider daily. So many providers stressed & worn out trying to juggle finances while doing unpaid hrs to maintain standards & only one voice speaks out @FederationEarly
