A3: NF is so much more complex than I realized! Having categories (SPs) gives us a concrete toolbox to uncover confusion and WHY the author does the things they do. And the strategies give quick simple fixes to clarify thinking. It’s all part a clear directive! #HCPSRead

A2: While I know B&P say there is a lot of complaint, Sketch to Stretch would work well in my room. Out of my 45, I have 15 ESE and 8 ELL (most are high needs). This helps them feel some success. It clarifies thinking without having to just analyze the words. #HCPSRead

Follow Up: I mapped out my sequence for teaching the SPs bc we are back to NF! Despite calendar stress, I know I have to make the time to explicitly teach it & it will pay off. Found great NB anchor charts and mini readings for each SP. I will also connect to Tropicana. #HCPSRead

A5: The strategies need to be purposefully planned and scaffolded. Knowing exactly what you want your Ss to be able to do with the NF text will point you in the right direction for which strategy to use. Eventually the goal is for the Ss to pick the strategy themselves #HCPSRead
