@gio_tbilisi @Charlie_W2007 @lauraapollo @washingtonpost Also, telescopes on earth are cheaper, bigger and easier to maintain/upgrade and there are a number of large ones currently under construction to be used in the next decades (e.g. E-ELT, TMT, LSST, MGT).

@gio_tbilisi @Charlie_W2007 @lauraapollo @washingtonpost This is a concern for real astronomers (https://t.co/iTAGp4gZgf). Also, the telescopes currently used are in remote areas where the atmosphere pollution is neglible (e.g. Chilean desert, Mauna Kea) and there is plenty to be done from earth.
