I think the reason there's slightly less Japanese artists who are anti-AI when compared to the west, is because the majority of them just want to make cool stuff without having to work for slave wages 80+ hours a week in a cramped office

meanwhile western 'artists' have a delusion that they should be able to make six figure salaries drawing a couple mediocre pictures per month, while also somehow being able to have full control over their client's behavior

1. a problem I agree with, which most models avoid by diluting styles, avoiding blatant copying of other artists. if anyone is 1-1 copying anyone else, it's a personal issue, not AI.
2. ai generations doesn't have to be made on data centers, most ai generation on those has high costs (not profitable for large scale) and i agree that it should be limited even further, ai centers are dystopian, open to anyone but not even profitable themselves, makes you wonder if the problem is them or the people funding them, no? all my stuff is made on my own machine, and most people doing ai art do the same, and costs less energy to do than playing some video games would.
3. water cooling has always been wasteful, even locally is just not good for the planet. in large scale, its the best way to cool stuff down, but that's a problem that would be solved if say, people stopped funding the madness that is data centers? so, again, not do to with ai art itself.
4. generating itself uses an high amount of energy, but playing any video game for the same amount of time would use similar amounts, even more for some video games, people are wasteful of energy, so, the problem is also not ai directly.
5. this one is also on the people funding the data centers and occasionally scalpers, 99.9% of people using AI couldn't give two shits about hoarding hardware, they instead WISH they could get their hands on more, better hardware so they generate faster (more energy per generation upfront, less energy overall), and they can't because of the same issue, corporations hoarding it themselves.
6. people use to flood sites with horrid art, the same happens with AI, it's not a AI issue again... most people are bad at drawing, most people are bad at AI generating, but people will still post their stuff if they feel like it.
