The ongoing and escalating slaughter of Ukrainian civilians depends on two preconditions: Moscow’s determination to erase Ukraine, and the tacit permission it receives from America and Europe, writes Andrew Chakhoyan in his recent op-ed.

Russia continues its attempts to wipe out all forms of Ukrainian culture in every area they've managed to occupy.
The Russian Ministry of Education has released a draft order removing the subject “Native (Ukrainian) Language” from the school curriculum in the temporarily occupied territories. Ukrainian literature will also be discontinued for grades 1 through 9.
The justification? A vague reference to the “changed geopolitical situation in the world.”
This is not educational policy. It is cultural erasure.
Putin himself foreshadowed this last year when he warned against "repeating past mistakes" by allowing the Ukrainian language too much space—even as he claimed Russia's approach should be "soft" and "natural."
There is nothing soft about eliminating a nation’s language from its schools. There is nothing natural about banning children from learning the literature of their homeland.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the move for what it is: a continuation of Russia’s genocidal policy in the occupied territories.
Language is identity. Literature is memory. To erase them is to attack the soul of a people.
And that is exactly what Russia is trying to do.
Ok I’m going back to work. I have 2 jobs to keep my child fed and our heads above water. I don’t make $ off my work here. I am a volunteer.
I hope you can help amplify my voice for the soldiers today. 🙏
Just when you thought your jaw couldn't drop any further... Donald Trump releases a private message sent by NATO Sec General Mark Rutte - with a very big claim, and written, it would seem, in the most Trumpian language (NATO has confirmed to BBC it is genuine). What a world.

Maga maso morons are ignorant of history. Even if they pretend to be in business, they are still absolutely ignorant of economic history. Not my job to teach them, but it's fun to collect some clowneries of their king (of no clothes)
@bromnk@BaldingsWorld No. It's you who seems to be deluded. I'm sitting here giving you my hard earned money for nothing. Europe is spending more money on Russian fuel than Ukraine aid. We are not the hypocrites.
If you want our help, we demand respect.

In today’s Vatnik Soup, I’ll explore how Russia is working with Iran, and how the recent Israel–US strikes on Iran could affect the war in Ukraine. Iran has been one of Russia’s key allies in their genocidal war, but in reality the partnership is deeply one-sided.

If you are wondering how the “ceasefire” in Ukraine is ongoing, Russia launched another missile barrage and drones into Ukraine, striking the city of Dnipro and killing 7 people. 70 were injured among them at least 10 children.
