Strategic communications & public policy in the public interest. Past: Maryland State Legislator, Obama Appointee Transportation, Congressional Press Secretary.
We are tired of watching lifesaving solutions get attacked while families continue to lose loved ones to drunk driving.
A proposed amendment would eliminate funding for implementation of the HALT Drunk Driving Law - a bipartisan measure expected to save more than 10,000 lives every year.
Privacy concerns deserve thoughtful discussion. Attempts to derail a law designed to prevent thousands of deaths do not.
The choice should be simple: protect lives and move this law forward.
We urge Congress to reject this amendment.
Today we remember Officer Noah Leotta and his lasting legacy. The law named in his honor was created to prevent impaired driving and save lives.

@nilslofgren@azsweetheart013 Such a good and kind man. I was honored to collaborate with your father 1982-85 on the Presidential Commission on Drunk Driving. At that time, I was a congressional press secretary and he was with the automakers association. Blessings to his memory🙏
State statutes like Noah’s Law are the cutting edge approach to preventing repeat drunk driving offenses. They give offenders a second chance while protecting the public’s safety. It’s a law we all can live with. #NoahOnPatrol#IgnitionInterlocksSaveLives
Sally Field memorized the First Amendment as a child. The Oscar winner says she now understands "it like never before," stressing that "this fragile thing called democracy needs to be protected."
Preventing impaired driving takes more than awareness. It also requires systems that work together.
A new guide from @NHTSAgov outlines how improved impaired driving tracking systems can help identify repeat offenses, strengthen accountability, and support safer roads.
When critical information falls through the cracks, people can too.

38 years ago today, 67 lives were forever changed in the Carrollton bus crash - the deadliest drunk driving crash in U.S. history. 27 people were killed, including 24 children, and more than 30 others were injured. What should have been a safe trip home became a tragedy that impacted every person on that bus, and countless lives beyond it. This is the reason we continue to work to end impaired driving. We remember them.
NHTSA Administrator Jonathan Morrison provided opening remarks at the 28th ESV conference in Toronto today and spoke in part about how automated technology will rewrite the story of road safety.
By mitigating the human behaviors that lead to crashes and expanding mobility for the elderly and those with disabilities, we aren’t just changing how we drive — we’re changing how we live. 🤝🚘
