A couple of years ago, a young woman, a student who was educated entirely on scholarships, was faced with a choice. The pandemic had compelled classes to go online and internal exams were reduced to a formality with students relying only on their moral compass to decide whether they should peek into their books to answer questions. They were writing their exams from home you see.

This young woman suddenly found herself not topping the class for the first time in her gritty, determined life, and was faced with a choice. Should she retain her position by what she saw as cheating or should she stick to her values. She chose the latter eventually.

I tell you this story to illustrate such a strong moral compass in one so young.

This is a young woman I know. She grew up in what, at best, can be called a shelter. No walls even to sheild her from Kerala's rain or summers, forget about a roof, by parents struggling to make ends meet.

Today she's an engineer, having graduated from the Govt College of Eng. Thrishur.

I'm here to ask you for your help in contributing to her studying further. Priya, a brilliant, dignified, dedicated young woman has secured an admission in Aachen University in Germany for a specialised master's course.

Priya comes from a economically and socially disadvantaged community - her family are traditional weavers - and her father is the sole earning member of the family. He has been unwell for a while, and unable to earn regularly. Even if he were to, he would not be able to afford the expenses.

The course she's been accepted into is funded by the German govt. The funds raised will go towards Priya's travel to Germany and as a bond for acquiring her visa. She is confident she will find a job there and earn her living while she studies to meet her living expenses over the next two years.

Incidentally, I know Priya because she tutors my daughter in chemistry and physics, and it's remarkable to see her discipline, ability to break down concepts and handle a resistant teen!

If you can contribute to this wonderful young woman's effort to realise her great potential and ambition, it would go a long way in securing a bright, steady future for her. It will also help her extricate her family from a cycle of poverty.

@abhijit_MLab We recently ordered some diabetes meds and our pack shipped out with a sample of horlicks for diabetics. It contains a non caloric sweetener apart from the generic permitted additives. That was quite a WTF moment for me. We haven't used the sample pack.
