@jaronson17@RutgersAltRoute I learned through remote learning that parents don't check their emails too often. A conversation is so much more effective.
@RutgersAltRoute Q5:I want to learn more about HIB signs and effective dialogue to use when having discussing with students. I also want to learn more about biased language and coping techniques for victims of bullying #AltRtEd#StandUpToBullying
@RutgersAltRoute A3. Bullying and intimidation a hinder students engagement, thus their learning. HIB can diminish students self-esteem, which affects their willingness to learn. #AltRtEd#StandUpToBullying
@Mr_Herschman @michael34594931 @RutgersAltRoute I had check-ins often and it helped me to build relationships with my students and I was able to make their time at school more comfortable. I live for check-ins!
@RutgersAltRoute I communicated the positive qualities of my students to their parents often. When there was an issue, parents were more receptive to addressing issues that were occurring amongst their children. The parents became partners in the child's success! #AltRtEd#StandUptoBullying
@mycollegeagenda@RutgersAltRoute I had two students whose personalities didn't mesh. The best thing i could do is keep them apart and have them talk to me as soon as conflict began.
@RutgersAltRoute Q2. Inclusion matters, words matter! Be sure to include all students and refrain from using dialogue that is biased. When conflict occurs, explain why the behavior is wrong. #AltRtEd#StandUptoBullying
@RutgersAltRoute Q1. I like to address the issue between the students involved. Having frequent discussions was very beneficial with getting to the root cause. #AltRtEd#StandUptoBullying
@Allison74287012@RutgersAltRoute That would be a great "back to school night" or parent teacher conference subject for parents. Navigating all of the tech that the students will be using. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute@Tolerance_org@NEAToday Q6: Transpareny! Parents are the vital link to a child's success and keeping them in the loop is essential to a student's success. I will also implement a stronger sense of urgency, therefore more difficult parents are more urgent regarding their students work #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute Q5. During remote learning, communication between families took place via phone or e-mail. Unfortunately, many families did not actively check their e-mail, therefore relaying information was repetitive. I may use an app called "Remind" in the future. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@KabbaniGSE@HeatherNgoma@MartinKlee7 Formative assessment has become the most effective tool for me! I used it every chance I got. I am excited to use formative assessment this coming school year!
@RutgersAltRoute Q4. A challenge in the classroom is keeping students on task due to their access to various multimedia options. Integrating technology in core content standards is also challenging because it is important to use technology as a tool to reinforce the lesson. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute A3. If remote learning continues, I will continue to use Power-point's for zoom instructional sessions. My scholars are accustomed to having resources and visual aids to support their thinking. I will try to find more creative methods for student engagement. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute A2. During remote learning we began using GetEpic for reading and vimeo, which had prerecorded lessons that coincide with their work. Scholars parents had difficulties understanding how to use the numerous platforms. Parent involvement was the most difficult. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@RutgersAltRoute A1. Scholars utilize NewsELA in my classroom during independent time. I like this option because it allows them to read about topics that they are interested in while continuing to practice the skills that we learn as a class. #AltRtEd#EdTech
@senorsousa@RutgersAltRoute I also found that placing them in the back of the classroom works as well because if something does occur, it happens behind the other students, therefore not distracting the majority of the class. I can do frequent check ins during a lesson to help them focus. #SpEd
