@1aMathieson I learned that we share a lot of DNA with bananas as well as evolution doesn't always make a species better.

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q8 Be specific!! What 2 things did you learn tonight? #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson Evolution is important today because it helps us understand and combat things like superbugs!

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q7 Why is evolution important today? (Or something leading to antibiotic and pesticide resistance?) #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson A common misconception about evolution is that humans are not evolving right now.

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q6 What are some common evolution misconceptions? #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson We know evolution happens because there is fossil, anatomical, and DNA evidence.

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q5 How do we know evolution happens? #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson Many people misunderstand evolution because they think it is very simple, but it is not!

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q4 Why do so many people misunderstand evolution? #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson When scientists say organisms are related, it means that the organisms share a common ancestor.

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q3 What does it mean when scientists say animal species are related? #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson Evolution is the changing of organisms over time so they better suit their environments.

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q2 What is Evolution? #scistuchat

[Brooklyn Heller @brooklyn_mv]

@1aMathieson A scientific theory is one that is backed up with lots of evidence, an everyday theory is just a hunch!

[ashley mathieson @1aMathieson]

Q1 What is a scientific theory & how is it different than an everyday theory #scistuchat
