I was joined by Nigeria’s legendary football stars, including Daniel Amokachi, Garba Lawal, Emmanuel Babayaro and other distinguished sports icons, on an inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna. We are rebuilding ABS as a modern, FIFA-standard sporting complex, anchored by a 33,000-capacity main bowl; more than twice its original 16,000 capacity, alongside a hybrid turf, the first of its kind in Nigeria, and other world-class facilities. The training pitches are complete, while work continues on the main bowl, ticketing points, media centre and athletes’ hostel.

Our objective is larger than rebuilding a stadium. We are restoring Kaduna’s historic place at the heart of Nigerian sports; attracting major competitions; expanding opportunities for our young people; increasing internally generated revenue; and stimulating wider economic activity.

We are also closing a 30-year chapter of an unfulfilled promise. The Atlanta 1996 Super Eagles were promised land and streets named in their honour. Our administration is now delivering on that commitment. Lands have been allocated to the legends, while streets across Kaduna State will bear their names. These football heroes elevated Nigeria’s name, inspired generations and left an indelible mark on the global game. They deserve not merely our applause, but enduring recognition.

I reaffirmed that the reconstruction of ABS will be completed by November 2026, ready to host major local and international competitions. Kaduna is not merely rebuilding a stadium. We are rebuilding a legacy and reclaiming our rightful place in Nigerian sports.

On Thursday, 27th August 2026, 4,050 graduates from all three campuses of the Kaduna Institute of Vocational Training and Skill Development (KIVTSD) will mark a major milestone.

From plumbing and electrical installation to welding, solar installation, fashion design, catering, auto mechatronics, computer repairs and more, the institute is equipping young people with practical skills to work, earn and build.

Under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, Kaduna continues to invest in skills and opportunities for its young people.

Earlier today, I attended the Maulud Nabiyy celebration organised by Fityanul Islam, Kaduna Chapter, at Murtala Square, Kaduna, where I was warmly received by a large and jubilant gathering.

I used the occasion to express my profound appreciation to our religious leaders, particularly the Imams and Ulamas, for their tireless efforts in promoting peace, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence across our communities. Their moral authority and sustained commitment remain invaluable to the preservation of harmony in our State.

I also urged our people to cherish and protect the peace that has made it possible for us to gather freely and joyfully in celebration of the life and exemplary teachings of our Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The successful observance of this year’s Maulud Nabiyy is, in many respects, a testament to the progress we are making in restoring peace and stability across Kaduna State. We must therefore remain united in our determination to consolidate these gains and build a durable foundation for peaceful coexistence.

I assured our people of faith that our administration will continue to support initiatives that strengthen interfaith dialogue, deepen mutual respect and advance peace, unity and shared prosperity. Together, we shall build a Kaduna anchored in justice, tolerance and collective progress.

Their visit reflects the depth of our enduring partnership and offered an invaluable opportunity to review the progress we have made in strengthening primary healthcare, advancing locally driven research, and building robust data systems that support evidence-based governance.

Our discussions provided a platform to assess ongoing initiatives, exchange insights, and deepen our shared commitment to delivering measurable and lasting outcomes for the people of Kaduna State. I was particularly encouraged by Mr. Vora's observation that Kaduna has consistently emerged as the Foundation's foremost subnational partner in deliberations at its global headquarters. That recognition affirms our administration's unwavering commitment to investing in the pillars of sustainable development—healthcare, education, agriculture, and human capital.

I expressed my profound appreciation to the Gates Foundation for choosing Kaduna as the first destination of its global leadership team's visit to Nigeria. Today, I had the distinct honour of representing His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Kaduna–Mando–Birnin Gwari Road, while also participating in my capacity as the Governor of Kaduna State. It was a defining moment that speaks to a shared national resolve to consolidate peace, expand opportunity and deliver enduring progress through purposeful leadership.

On behalf of Mr. President, I conveyed his unwavering commitment to the people of Kaduna State and his determination to improve their quality of life through strategic investments in infrastructure, security and inclusive economic development. I also expressed my profound appreciation to him for approving this transformational project and ensuring the timely release of the resources required for its successful execution.

For more than three decades, this vital corridor has awaited comprehensive reconstruction. Today, we begin far more than the rehabilitation of a road; we are restoring a strategic artery of commerce and connectivity that will reunite communities, unlock agricultural potential, facilitate trade, strengthen food security and reinforce national cohesion. This project affirms a fundamental truth: peace and development are mutually reinforcing. Sustainable security creates the conditions for investment and prosperity, while inclusive development strengthens the foundations of lasting peace.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, and the Federal Ministry of Works for their steadfast commitment to this landmark undertaking. I also warmly welcome the contractors, J. Patel & Sons Nigeria Limited, and look forward to the delivery of infrastructure distinguished by quality, durability and excellence.

It was a privilege to deliver the keynote address and participate in the panel discussion at the National Security Roundtable on Constitutional Reform and the Establishment of State Police Services, organised by the National Assembly Library Trust Fund in Abuja. The Roundtable brought together an eminent gathering of security practitioners, legislators, constitutional scholars, policymakers and other distinguished stakeholders to deliberate on one of the most consequential institutional reforms before our nation. At a time when Nigeria's security challenges are becoming increasingly complex and multidimensional, such thoughtful engagement is essential to shaping a constitutional and institutional framework that is both responsive to present realities and resilient enough to meet future demands.

In my keynote address, I reaffirmed my support for the establishment of State Police as a vital component of a more effective and responsive national security architecture. I stressed, however, that the success of this reform will depend not merely on constitutional amendment, but on building institutions anchored on professionalism, accountability, operational independence and robust constitutional safeguards.

I emphasised that State Police should complement, not replace, the Nigeria Police Force, with both institutions operating within a coordinated framework founded on collaboration, intelligence sharing and clearly defined constitutional responsibilities. I also underscored the imperative of nationally benchmarked recruitment and training standards, technology-driven policing, independent oversight and sustainable funding.

Drawing from our experience in Kaduna State, I observed that lasting security is built through trust, dialogue, inclusion, community partnership and intelligence-led policing. I remain convinced that a carefully designed State Police system will deepen federalism, strengthen democratic governance and significantly enhance the protection of lives and property across our country.

I join family, friends, colleagues and countless admirers across Nigeria and beyond in celebrating my dear friend, Prince Nduka Obaigbena (The Duke), on the joyous occasion of his 67th birthday and the 40th anniversary of the founding of THISWEEK magazine; a pioneering publication that transformed the landscape of Nigerian journalism and laid the foundation for one of Africa's most influential media institutions.

Forty years ago, when many were content to follow familiar paths, The Duke chose to chart a new course. With uncommon vision, courage and intellectual audacity, he founded THISWEEK, a publication that challenged conventions, raised professional standards and redefined investigative and public-interest journalism in Nigeria. That bold enterprise evolved into THISDAY and the ARISE Media Group, institutions that have continued to shape public discourse, deepen democratic engagement and project African perspectives onto the global stage.

Prince Nduka Obaigbena is much more than an accomplished media entrepreneur. He is a humanist whose generosity has opened doors for countless professionals; a patriot whose unwavering belief in Nigeria has never faltered; a nationalist who understands that a strong democracy is sustained by a free, courageous and responsible press; and a steadfast pro-democracy crusader who has consistently defended the principles of free expression, accountability and good governance.

His remarkable journey is a testament to what visionary leadership can achieve. A trailblazer by instinct, bold in thought and resolute in action, he has never allowed convention to limit ambition. Time and again, he has demonstrated that institutions of enduring value are built by those who possess the courage to dream beyond the ordinary and the discipline to transform vision into reality.

Beyond his extraordinary professional accomplishments lies an even greater legacy: his abiding faith in people. He has mentored generations of journalists, nurtured talent, created opportunities and inspired countless young Nigerians to believe that excellence is not an aspiration but a duty.

As he marks this double milestone, I pray that Almighty God grants him continued good health, even sharper mental acuity, renewed strength and many more years of purposeful service to our beloved nation, the African continent and humanity at large.

I was delighted to return to Kwoi in Jaba Local Government Area to fulfil a solemn promise made during the groundbreaking ceremony on 11 September 2025 by commissioning the Audu Tilo Road, Sabon Gari Road, Doctor Sani Road, Hospital Road, Kpop Ham Palace Road and the strategic Kwoi–Gora Road. The warmth, enthusiasm and genuine joy with which the people received us were deeply humbling and reaffirmed the enduring bond of trust between our administration and the citizens we are privileged to serve. There is no greater fulfilment in public service than returning to a community to demonstrate that promises made have indeed become promises kept.

For more than two decades, Jaba Local Government Area witnessed no completed road construction and stood among the twelve local government areas that suffered prolonged neglect in critical road infrastructure. Today, that unfortunate chapter has given way to a new era of purposeful development. Since assuming office on 29 May 2023, our administration has initiated 150 road projects spanning more than 1,355 kilometres across all twenty-three local government areas of Kaduna State, with the overwhelming majority already completed.

It was a great honour to serve as Wali at the wedding fatiha of the children of our revered Islamic scholars, Sheikh Yusuf Muhammad Sambo Rigachikun, as well as Sheikh Ibrahim Muhammad Jalo Jalingo . The ceremony was held at the Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi Juma’at Mosque in Rigachikun, Kaduna State, and was a beautiful gathering of faith, family and community.

I warmly congratulate Aisha Yusuf Sambo and Muhammad Jalo Jalingo, Maryam Yusuf Sambo, Fatima Yusuf Sambo, and Ummukhultum Yusuf Sambo, as well as their spouses, on this joyous milestone.

I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) blesses their unions with love, peace, understanding and abundant barakah and make their marriages among the best. Ameen.

It was my pleasure to receive the Chairman and members of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), led by Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, an illustrious son of Kaduna State, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna.

Our engagement centred on strengthening Nigeria's fiscal architecture, enhancing revenue mobilisation, and advancing a revenue allocation system that is equitable, transparent and fiscally sustainable. These are essential pillars for building resilient institutions and accelerating national development.

During our discussions, I highlighted the significant progress Kaduna State has recorded through deliberate reforms, prudent financial management and sustained investments in human capital. From expanding internally generated revenue to strengthening healthcare delivery and broadening access to quality education, our focus remains on ensuring that sound public finance translates into tangible improvements in the lives of our people.

I was particularly encouraged by Dr. Shehu's generous assessment of Kaduna State's development trajectory and his recognition of our administration's achievements across security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, social inclusion and economic growth. As part of our unwavering commitment to confronting the longstanding challenges of environmental degradation, flooding, and gully erosion, I had the honour of performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the ₦34 billion Rigasa/Tudun Wada Flood and Gully Erosion Control Project, alongside the presentation of over ₦2 billion in compensation cheques to Project Affected Persons. This important intervention reflects a fundamental principle that guides our administration: that development must not only deliver progress, but must also uphold justice, compassion, and respect for human dignity.

Spanning approximately 17 kilometres, this project offers a lasting and transformative response to the persistent flooding and gully erosion that have brought hardship and destruction to the people of Rigasa and Tudun Wada for decades. Through a carefully structured Resettlement Action Plan, we are supporting more than 1,200 Project Affected Households, ensuring that in the pursuit of collective progress, no citizen bears an unjust burden.

Upon completion within the next 18 months, this intervention will substantially reduce flood risks, stabilise erosion-prone areas, safeguard homes and critical public infrastructure, preserve livelihoods, and strengthen climate resilience. More importantly, it is expected to directly and indirectly impact over two million people, advancing our broader vision of environmental sustainability and inclusive development across Kaduna State.

I deeply appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the affected communities and urge contractors to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, quality, and accountability. Together, we are building a safer, greener, more resilient, and more prosperous Kaduna State for generations to come.

In a major effort to improve infrastructure, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Sen. Uba Sani, has approved the construction and rehabilitation of four major road projects across the Zaria Local Government Area:
1. Baban Dodo - Durumi - Kofar Kuyan Bana Road

I paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu in Maraban Jos, Kaduna, to personally express my heartfelt sympathy and stand with them in a moment of profound grief. I met with her husband, Malam Aliyu, and other members of the family, conveying my deepest condolences and assuring them that, in this painful season of loss, they do not walk alone. I prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Ummulkhairi eternal rest and to strengthen her loved ones with patience, comfort, and the fortitude to bear this heavy burden.

During the visit, I reaffirmed our administration’s unwavering commitment to justice. I made it unequivocally clear that those responsible for this heinous act will be identified, apprehended, and brought before the law. We shall pursue every lead with diligence and resolve, and no individual connected to this tragic incident will escape accountability.

I informed the family that 41 suspects have been charged to court for culpable homicide, while 30 suspects have been charged with unlawful assembly. Additionally, 17 individuals who were not found culpable have been released, while 41 others remain under investigation as security agencies intensify efforts to apprehend additional suspects still at large. I further assured them that a comprehensive investigation remains underway and that any police personnel found to have been directly or indirectly complicit will face the full consequences of the law.

We also pledged to Malam Aliyu that the Kaduna State Government will assume responsibility for the education and welfare of the children Ummulkhairi left behind. Our duty extends beyond words; it demands compassion, justice, and steadfast action.
