The man who went unbeaten in the Bundesliga is now walking into one of football's most chaotic projects. And somehow, that's exactly what makes this interesting.

Luis Enrique said no. Nagelsmann said no. Alonso said yes. Either the money was too good, or he sees something others don't. Maybe both.

Yes, Real Madrid happened. But a chaotic half-season at the Bernabeu doesn't erase what he built at Leverkusen. It just means he's no longer untested. (*Caugh* Glass is half full energy *Caugh*)

The real question isn't whether he's good enough. We already know his calibre in building a solid system. It's whether BlueCo will actually let him work. Five owners. Five sporting directors, where a transfer window operates like a shopping addiction. Considering this scenario, giving the manager real control would be the biggest culture shift in Chelsea's recent history.

There are reports that he demanded full authority over the squad and key decisions. There are also reports we've heard that before.

But here's what can turn things interesting: Imagine Caicedo under a Xabi Alonso system, Cole Palmer with actual structure around him, or Reece James playing for a manager who builds from the back. That should be a formidable team at least on paper.

Whether it works depends entirely on what happens in the transfer window. Show us the signings, Xabi. Then we'll talk.
