@Houseofyogi Thanks for this. And shame on all the nasty people in the comments whose parents didn't raise them with any sense of decency—I blocked about a hundred.
@SouthernKeeks Important to say. And shame on all the nasty people on this site cursing and celebrating. I blocked over a hundred from the comments on Lyndsey's post.

Thinking about how absolutely vile many of you have been to Lindsey Graham during his life—and will continue to be in his death.
Few realize he became an orphan and raised his young sister while he was in college—the first of his family to earn higher education.
He was a good, brilliant, self-deprecating man with consistent principles who leaves a legacy of tirelessly working for the people of South Carolina. Praying for Darline—the sister he raised—and all who loved him.
Thanks for this, and I'm sorry for the hundreds of wicked comments from truly evil people. I blocked well over a hundred—mostly the ones who mocked or cursed or celebrated his death. Life's too short for the hundreds more with simply bad taste to say something bad about him.

@DaveExplains1@lyndseyfifield Me too. I'm mostly just blocking the evil ones who mock, or laugh, or curse, and it's still hundreds. I don't have time for the ones with poor taste who simply say that he was bad.
@EllipticalMan@LuciaLobosvilla When I was growing up, The Hobbit was often assigned reading in 7th grade.
With respect to more recent fiction, have you heard of Harry Potter? Those books are also long (some are much longer than 310 pages), and they are expressly written for children.
@pegobry_en I saw someone recommend All the Kings Men, which is amazing but mostly not about politics. I'll say Advise and Consent, which is the very best at showing how the Senate (and DC more generally) functioned 75 years ago.
@brsgr4049@mattyglesias Maybe because Mamdani constantly tries to do foreign policy. He's effectively something of a shadow secretary of state for the Democratic Party. Here's today's episode:

A top official in New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration planned to meet with Iran’s UN envoy before the meeting was canceled following State Department intervention, City Journal reported.
Ana María Archila, commissioner for international affairs, was scheduled to meet Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, on July 7 at 2 United Nations Plaza, alongside two other senior officials in the mayor’s international affairs office, according to the report.
City Journal reported citing a State Department official that the department had not been informed of the planned meeting and later met with the Mamdani administration to clarify acceptable conduct.
The report said Archila allegedly did not inform Mamdani of the meeting, was reprimanded and directed to cancel it, citing a source familiar with the office.
“This meeting did not and will not take place,” a spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs told City Journal.
Just arrived in Venezuela to coordinate @sendrelief earthquake response with the Venezuelan Baptist Convention, trusted partners since @IMB_SBC helped launch their convention 75 years ago.

@thomaschattwill ChatGPT says 5th:
"My updated top 5 would be:
Kylian Mbappé (France)
Lamine Yamal (Spain)
Harry Kane (England)
Jude Bellingham (England)
Erling Haaland (Norway)"
@PttyThlm@bethanyshondark@MegynKellyShow@megynkelly Do you know what Occam's Razor actually means? In this case, it means that Charlie was killed by a trans activist because Charlie was fighting against the LGBT agenda.
Tucker absolutely hates Jews at least as much as Platner, and he's officially renounced the GOP, so he's really an ideal candidate for Maine progressives.
@tobiaschneider Email might or might not work, but that kind of initiative certainly does. Crazy to see how this generation mocks it. The kids are not all right.
@tobiaschneider Right. If people like him ever actually processed what they had done, they would have to deal with the guilt.
The problem with our society today is that no one believes in hell anymore.
