People are quick to get defensive when you mention the lack of utility in crypto.
"But my coin does XYZ"
Yes, we get it, you're over-invested from very high prices and fell into the rabbit hole.
Stay calm.
Yes... of course there's projects working towards real-world adoption.
Yes... of course there's projects working towards making a genuine change.
Yes... many of the systems running the world today will likely transition to blockchain-based and utilise the technology.
But right now... the market couldn't care less for any of that.
If it did... the market wouldn't be in sync with BTC and the coins would behave like individual stocks.
The most utility the retail and the average person has seen lately is gambling on memes.
BTC was intended as a form of payment. The strongest use-case for BTC payments is crime, that's not a secret. Yes, so is the Dollar, get over it. The majority HOLD their BTC with the belief it will make them rich.
The current form of cryptocurrency utility is "it will make me rich".
Understand that you're participating in a bubble and you will reap the rewards that come with participating in a bubble. Being in a bubble is good. This is where huge returns on investment are possible.
Most will be in for a shock when utility becomes a determining factor. I don't think you actually want what you think you want. That's when projects that are genuinely doing something for the real-world are treated in that way and move like traditional stocks based on progression and performance.
Right now if you chase what has utility you're not doing any better than the person not chasing utility, if anything you're likely doing far worse because you're falling into cults. It does not matter in the slightest. Not yet.
Utility will matter when it's all actually being adopted and reflected in the real-world.
Utility will matter when the market values projects on what benefit they provide to the world.
Utility is developing in the background. A very long process.
For utility to be taken seriously, the market must stop being viewed as a road to instant riches.
What do you think happens when that reality settles in?
Don't overcomplicate a very simple process.
If everything moves up and down together, your goal is really as simple as finding what can go up the most when everything goes up together.
We seek complexities with the belief it makes us more intelligent. It tends to lead to unsatisfactory results.
You don't need to be a genius to make a lot of money in this market, you don't need to pretend to be one either.
Nothing is more effective than mastering the basics and applying common sense.
