The Alaska State Wrestling Championships’ consolation rounds are underway in Anchorage.
Kayhi’s Julia Biagi (125) and Kollin Houthoofd (152) both have won two matches so far this morning and will be wrestling in the consolation semifinals.
Kayhi Lady Kings launching their 2021-22 season this afternoon at the Doc Larson Roundball Classic at Wasilla HS.
Swarming defense, open looks helping Lady Kings power to a 29-7 lead over Mt. Edgecumbe at the half.
I worked to ensure the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act includes many provisions that will benefit Alaska. Take a look at the highlights contained in the new law for our state: https://t.co/J63wn3zpxc
Jeff and Rebekka’s small Alaskan business, Lighthouse Excursions, was thriving – until COVID-19 hit. I worked hard to help and protect Alaskan businesses during and after the pandemic, with legislation like the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act.
Today is a big day for Alaska! Right now I’m on my way to a signing ceremony at the White House where my bill, the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act, will be signed into law.
I’m encouraged that my bill, the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act, which provides a path forward for Alaska’s tourism industry, is on its way to the President to be signed into law. https://t.co/ROnTWkBDyY
@lisamurkowski If there are two lost cruise seasons, most cruise ship reliant tourism businesses will have go 30 months without $1 of revenue!! Most (tours especially) are not able to stay open year round. Yet the costs of owning these businesses carries on.
Alongside @SenDanSullivan I introduced the Alaska Tourism Recovery Act to alleviate the Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA) restrictions for cruise ships transporting passengers between the State of Washington and the State of Alaska. https://t.co/sJSoc8yW86
I'm cosponsoring @SenCortezMasto's bill, the Sustaining Tourism Enterprises During the #COVID19 Pandemic Act, or the “STEP Act”, which authorizes $10B into the EDA Economic Adjustment Assistance program to provide grants to tourism entities to offset losses due to the pandemic.
I recently had a chance to take part in a Q&A session with the students of Kayhi, who asked about potential impacts to the Southeast on everything from the coronavirus to the ferry system and the developing Arctic Region.
Hearing how engaged and knowledgeable these students are about the world around them and what’s happening in our state gives me confidence that the future of Alaska is in good hands.
And just like that, Ketchikan senior Chris Lee is the Kings' all-time leading scorer. A 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter for career points 1,787, 1,788 and 1,789, breaking Steve Ortiz's 46-year-old record of 1,788.
