एनएचपीसी द्वारा निगम मुख्यालय, फरीदाबाद में देशभक्ति की भावना और उत्साह के साथ 15 अगस्त 2026 को भारत का 80वां स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया गया। समारोह की शुरुआत राष्ट्रगीत के समूह गायन से हुई । तत्पश्चात, श्री भूपेन्��्र गुप्ता, अध्यक्ष व प्रबंध निदेशक, एनएचपीसी द्वारा ध्वजारोहण और राष्ट्रगान का सामूहिक गायन किया गया। इस अवसर पर श्री संजय कुमार सिंह, निदेशक (परियोजनाएं), श्री सुप्रकाश अधिकारी, निदेशक (तकनीकी), श्री महेश कुमार शर्मा, निदेशक (वित्त), श्री परेश आर. राणपरा, निदेशक (कार्मिक), एनएचपीसी और निगम के अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी व कार्मिक तथा उनके परिवारजन उपस्थित थे। इस अवसर पर, देश भर में स्थित एनएचपीसी के विभिन्न क्षेत्रीय कार्यालयों, पावर स्टेशनों, परियोजनाओं और इकाइयों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी एवं कर्मचारी लाइव वेबकास्ट के माध्यम से समारोह से जुड़े।

इस अवसर पर संबोधित करते हुए श्री भूपेन्द्र गुप्ता ने समस्त एनएचपीसी परिवार को स्वतंत्रता दिवस की शुभकामनाएँ दीं और विकसित भारत के लक्ष्य में ऊर्जा क्षेत्र की महत्वपूर्ण भू���िका पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने कहा कि ऊर्जा सुरक्षा एवं ऊर्जा आत्मनिर्भरता विकसित भारत की आधारशिला हैं और एनएचपीसी देश को विश्वसनीय एवं स्वच्छ ऊर्जा उपलब्ध कराने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि अक्षय ऊर्जा, पंप्ड स्टोरेज एवं ऊर्जा भंडारण के क्षेत्र में एनएचपीसी को सौंपी गई जिम्मेदारियां भारत सरकार के एनएचपीसी की विशेषज्ञता एवं क्षमता पर विश्वास को दर्शाती हैं। उन्होंने एनएचपीसी की प्रमुख उपलब्धियों, विशेषकर 2,000 मेगावाट सुबनसिरी लोअर जलविद्युत परियोजना में 1,000 मेगावाट क्षमता के कमीशनिंग तथा दिबांग बहुद्देशीय परियोजना की प्रगति का उल्लेख किया।

एनएचपीसी के बदलते ऊर्जा स्वरूप पर प्रकाश डालते हुए श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि जलविद्युत कंपनी की मुख्य शक्ति बनी रहेगी, जबकि पंप्ड स्टोरेज भविष्य की ऊर्जा व्यवस्था का महत्वपूर्ण आधार और सौर एवं पवन ऊर्जा विकास के प्रमुख स्तंभ होंगे। उन्होंने अंतरराष्ट्रीय व्यवसाय एवं परामर्श के माध्यम से एनएचपीसी की विशेषज्ञता को वैश्विक स्तर पर पहुंचाने पर भी जोर दिया। उन्होंने सीएसआर एवं स्थानीय समुदायों के साथ एनएचपीसी की प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करते हुए कहा कि विकास का लाभ परियोजना क्षेत्रों में रहने वाले समुदायों तक पहुंचना चाहिए।

तीस्ता-VI की दुखद घटना को स्मरण करते हुए उन्होंने मा���व जीवन की सुरक्षा को सर्वोच्च प्राथ��िकता देने तथा सभी कार्यस्थलों पर सुरक्षित कार्यसंस्कृति को मजबूत करने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि सुरक्षा एक कार्यसंस्कृति होनी चाहिए ।

उन्होंने वित्त वर्ष 2025-26 में कंपनी के मजबूत वित्तीय एवं प्रचालन प्रदर्शन तथा वित्त वर्ष 2026-27 की पहली तिमाही में उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धियों पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि एनएचपीसी की सबसे बड़ी शक्ति उसके कर्मचारी हैं। उन्होंने कर्मचारियों से सुरक्षा, गुणवत��ता, ईमानदारी और उत्कृष्टता को कार्यसंस्कृति का अभिन्न हिस्सा बनाने का आह्वान किया ।

श्री गुप्ता ने एनएचपीसी के नवनियुक्त युवा कर्मचारियों से अपनी नई सोच, विचारों और नवाचारों को संगठन के साथ साझा करने तथा प्रबंधन के समक्ष अपने सुझाव रखने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि युवा कर्मचारियों की नई दृष्टि और डिजिटल दक्षता एनएचपीसी को बदलते तकनीकी परिवेश के अनुरूप आगे बढ़ाने में महत्वपूर्ण भ��मिका निभा सकती है। उन्होंने संगठन में डिजिटल हस्तक्षेप, आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस और अन्य आधुनिक तकनीकों के अधिकाधिक उपयोग पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि ��नुभवी कर्मचारियों के ज्ञान और युवाओं की नई सोच एवं तकनीकी क्षमता का समन्वय एनएचपीसी को भविष्य के लिए और अधिक सक्षम एवं सुदृढ़ बनाएगा।

उन्होंने कर्मचारियों से ऊर्जा एवं जल संरक्षण को दैनिक कार्यसंस्कृति का हिस्सा बनाने तथा सिंगल-यूज प्लास्टिक के उपयोग को कम करने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि ऊर्जा संरक्षण, जल संरक्षण और पर्यावरण संरक्षण जैसे प्रयासों में प्रत्येक कर्मचारी की भागीद��री महत्वपूर्ण है।

विकसित भारत@2047 के संकल्प को दोहराते हुए श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि एनएचपीसी ऊर्जा सुरक्षा, ऊर्जा आत्मनिर्भरता और स्वच्छ ऊर्जा विकास में अपनी भूमिका पूरी प्रतिबद्धता के साथ निभाएगी तथा परियोजनाओं को सुरक्षित, समयबद्ध एवं गुणवत्तापूर्ण तरीके से पूरा करने पर निरंतर ध्यान देगी।

स्वतंत्रता दिवस के अवसर पर निगम मुख्यालय में ‘वंदे मातरम’ एवं ‘तिरंगा’ प्रदर्शनी का भी आयोजन कि��ा गया, जिसमें उनकी गौरवशाली यात्रा और राष्ट्रीय महत्व को प्रदर्शित किया गया। एनएचपीसी ने अपने सभी कार्यस्थलों पर भी देशभक्ति की भावना के साथ भारत का 80वां स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया।

Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC met with Shri Pema Khandu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, on 07.08.2026 at Itanagar. Shri Chowna Mein, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, along with Shri H.K. Paliwal, Advisor to GoAP; Shri Sonam Chombay, Commissioner to Hon'ble CM and Hydropower; Shri A.K. Singh, Commissioner (Land Management) and other senior officers of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and NHPC, were also present during the meeting.
During the interaction, Shri Bhupender Gupta briefed the Hon’ble Chief Minister on the current status and progress of various NHPC hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh and apprised him of the initiatives being undertaken. The Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects and assured full support and cooperation from the State Government to NHPC.

🌍 Shashi Tharoor Drops a History Bomb: How Islam Reached Kerala as “News,” Not the Sword!

In his powerful speech at the India Islamic Culture Centre in New Delhi on April 11, 2026, Shashi Tharoor (speaking as a proud Keralite) shattered a common northern perception: that Islam arrived in India only through conquest in 712 AD with Muhammad bin Qasim.
Instead, he painted a vivid, peaceful picture of the South: Islam came to Kerala as news – carried by Arab traders across the Arabian Sea centuries earlier. These merchants didn’t conquer; they traded spices, built trust with local communities, and shared their faith organically.

Then came the cherry on top: Tharoor revealed how the oldest mosque outside the Arab world was born right here in India. The local king (Cheraman Perumal) welcomed the traders’ request and generously offered them a disused temple site in Kodungallur (Kerala).

And guess what? That historic Cheraman Juma Masjid still stands today – renovated over the centuries but proudly keeping an ancient Hindu lamp burning right outside its entrance. A living symbol of harmony!
