I hope you guys can understand why Baleba is my No. 1 pick for the midfield signing. He is technical, a ground-eater, a tenacious ball-winner & presser.
(best possible partner for Nyoni)
And I still don't understand why people think he’s not a good passer, he’s a good passer.
It’s not a 4-3-3. The double pivot in stacked vertically instead of horizontally for quick progression and because of the 4-1-3-2 pressing structure. I don’t think Elliott is supposed to drop as deep as he is (as the Iraola 10 is meant to be more of a second striker).
Also what does “positional play principles with relationism layered onto it” even mean. Those two ideas are literal opposites. You’re telling me you think Iraola has taught two fundamentally different systems to the players in less than a month and is “fluidly” interchanging? He isn’t.
Our build-up essentially forces the pivot and 10 into the middle while our fullbacks and wingers stay wide. As the ball moves forward the wingers chose to come inside or stay wide. The fullbacks react to that. The midfielder who acts as the first receiver is also allowed to split the center backs.
We also don’t have any clear patterns of play yet. Just a few “automations.” An automation, by my definition, is just a guaranteed action a player makes in a given situation. Players can interchange multiple of these, but they often are used to simplify a players thinking.
It’s going to take time before we see any real patterns of play or a real system in possession imo. For now I’ll take the 4-1-3-2 pressing with clear pressing triggers.
Nyoni is more slippery than a bar of soap! Isn’t letting anything slip past his grasp this season. He was like a less gangly prime Diaby last night v a ready-to-go Wrexham. He even showed some traits of a 6 when he’s known as an 8. Euro 2028 🏴 wild card.
Ndukwe isn’t just an aerial 🏰, his confidence in his 💪 means he doesn’t feel the need to barge, just lean into opponents to usher them away + 6 balls into the final third + only player to complete 90 mins for Iraola. Shame he can’t get a UK work permit.
@lfctrebleotw@Kemeesweetlife1@AnfieldWatch If you don’t know guela doue that just tells me you don’t really watch footy and know up and coming players. You probably would’ve said Salah is a serie A player and isn’t good enough for Liverpool too.
