Steve Nash got his MVP in 05-06 for this exact reason. People always say it should’ve went to Kobe but forget the main reason Nash won was because the Suns won 54 games despite Amare Stoudemire only playing 3 games. They also lost Joe Johnson and Q-Rich in the previous offseason.

Now guys like say a Kurt Warner clearly needed it to get in. If Cam Newton gets in now that opens up the convo for guys like Rich Gannon, Steve McNair and Boomer Esiason. All those guys won an MVP and made a Super Bowl appearance. Cam was Super Nova but not a hall of famer

Saw PJ Tucker state that he believes Cam Newton is a no brainer Hall of Famer and it had me think about a few things. 1. Confirms why the NBA has a weak hall of fame. 2. It makes me think about the over reliance on an outlier season for someone to get into the hall of fame.

In my opinion I should be able to remove your MVP accolade and it should change nothing. You remove John Elway, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Steve Young, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning’s MVP and they will still cleanly go to the Hall of Fame.
