I don’t totally know to be honest, that’s what I’m trying to explore both in my church and in my podcast and stuff. It’s also going to be what my dmin project will be on when i finish it 10 years from now.

But a couple of quick thoughts:

1. Do Rite One only, never go full Rite II.
2. Find the books “Prayer Shapes Believing” and “Liturgy for Living” and do everything the exact opposite that they tell you to.
3. Stop all talk of “the liturgy” as an event, or any mention of “the mystery,” also stop saying that the liturgical calendar is “the way the church inhabits time” or anything like that.
4. Don’t wear chasubles unless you really mean it and are going full Anglo-catholic, aka start believing that the ceremonial things matter and mean real things
5. Remember that the liturgy is not first and foremost a ceremony or event that is performed, but words that Christians pray together. This seems like a small and inconsequential change but i think becomes a very big paradigm shift from how the 79 operates

Dale doesn’t need to join the ACNA to be Anglican, but he will need to find a valid bishop to ordain him before he is an Anglican. That’s not my opinion: every Anglican ever has said that. Anglicanism without episcopacy is Presbyterianism with bishops.

@dalepartridge It’s fine to be independent, but you cannot be an Anglican without having bishops. It is essential to the nature of Anglicanism to have bishops. It’s like saying “we’re Alcoholics Anonymous, but everyone knows who we are and when we meet.” It is a contradiction.

@dalepartridge @DanielRHyde @DerekSteward3 As a Reformed Anglican, you are not Anglican if you do not have a bishop. You don’t need a bishop to be a Christian, but you need one to be an Anglican. You can’t meaningfully use the 1662 BCP without a bishop.
