Nests, nests and (hopefully) more nests! @ChristarinD and I were able to find four Savannah sparrow nests today at @ALUSNorfolk farms. #ornithology

Sometimes the best way to learn is to leave the nest and try it yourself. @brynn_varcoe and I are lucky to have @Newman_lab as a mentor while we learn the ins-and-outs of mist netting, banding, and dissecting savannah sparrows (and seeing a few other species that stop in).

The rains did not keep us away from @ALUSCanada farms as we surveyed for sparrows & met inspiring landowners, though perhaps we did get delightfully distracted by native wildflowers & other songbirds, of which there are plenty! #ecosystemservices #foodfromthought #ornithology
