@DrRachaelF The people calling for no phones in school do not have a realistic view of the world. Times have changed since you were in high school, friends. Banning things does not make teenagers more compliant, responsible, or respectful. You know what does? Having a conversation with them.
@HumDog64@JeremyCom The reality of teaching and the depth of the workload are often not fully revealed until we are in our first year, so we don't actually know what we signed up for until well after we could have changed paths. The passion for the work dies when we are *required* to work for free.
@jakequery Also the absolute vitriol being spewed about teachers from people on the right is so disheartening. I don't know how anyone can continue in a profession with hate and criticism that loud
@jakequery I feel an immense amount of dread when I walk in to a school building. Not because of the kids, not because of the work, but because I am scared that I will die and I will never see my baby again. I didn't sign up for that and nothing is being done to make it less likely
I am literally on the verge of a mental breakdown as the school year approaches and I just stumbled upon the most atrocious thread about teachers LET ME OUT
