#WATCH | Gandhinagar, Gujarat: On assuming charge as Director General of Police of the state, G. S. Malik, says, “The primary functions of the police are crime prevention, detection, and investigation, along with the maintenance of law and order. We have prioritised these areas. Regarding CCTV coverage, most states have implemented it extensively…through public participation, we installed over 24,000 additional cameras. Of these, we integrated the feeds from the most critical 3,000 cameras directly into police stations…this has significantly improved crime detection and prevention in Ahmedabad…we are streamlining the grievance redressal system so that public issues and grievances are resolved at the police station or district level, eliminating the need for citizens to travel further for solutions. We are also placing the highest priority on tackling the drug menace, which is becoming a major challenge…apart from that, cybercrime is emerging as a major challenge. To address this, we need to ensure continuous training at the district level as well…”

A joyous moment for every Indian!

Chola Copper Plates dating back to the 11th Century will be repatriated to India from the Netherlands. Took part in the ceremony for the same in the presence of Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

The Chola Copper Plates are a set of 21 large plates and 3 small plates and largely contain texts in Tamil, one of the most beautiful languages of the world. They relate to the great Rajendra Chola I formalising an oral commitment made by his father, King Rajaraja I. They also showcase the greatness of the Cholas. We in India are immensely proud of the Cholas, their culture and their maritime prowess.

I thank the Government of the Netherlands and Leiden University in particular, where the Copper Plates were kept since the mid-19th century.
