From the West Midlands to London, buses are being brought back into public hands.
In the West Midlands, the government and West Midlands Combined Authority have decided to take bus services under public control - safeguarding jobs and services after the uncertainty around National Express.
Unite represents thousands of bus workers in the West Midlands, and we’ll be making sure workers’ hard-fought terms, conditions and agreements are protected as services move to a new employer.
And in London, plans are underway for a publicly-owned bus company, 'Buses for London' to launch in 2027.
The first route between Willesden and Victoria is due to begin operating in late 2027, with more routes planned to follow.
Unite has long campaigned for buses to be brought back into public ownership. Outsourcing bus services has too often meant pressure on workers, passengers and communities while private operators take profits.
Public transport should work for the public and that means good services, good jobs and decent conditions for the workers who keep our cities moving.
From the West Midlands to London, the case for public ownership is growing 🚌✊

Starting in 2027, smartphones sold in the European Union will be required to have user-replaceable batteries designed for greater durability and more charging cycles.
Manufacturers must also provide spare parts and repair manuals for at least 10 years after a model is released.
This is real pressure against planned obsolescence. It should mean phones that actually last longer, cheaper fixes, and a lot less electronic waste piling up. About time.
@najam_ali U.S Kind of if I cannot open it, and if Iran willing to open, that's a shame on me. So I will block now. Which U.S will fail again. all these years it was free, if they charge now, all the blame will be on trump and he doesn't want that. money to rebuild the damage caused by U.S
@WhiteHouse If the UK pay in pounds, Iran will allow UK ships to pass next minutes without any issue. If you dig a whole you have to fill it your self.
Downloaded an app this morning
It asked me to accept the terms and conditions
197 pages
I read them
Because that's what I do
By page 12 I'd granted them an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free license to my data
That's the same language I see in contracts worth more than my house
For a free app
By page 41 I'd agreed to resolve all disputes through binding arbitration in the state of Delaware
I've never been to Delaware
No jury trial
No class action
No discovery process
They gave themselves more legal protection than most Fortune 500 vendor agreements I've reviewed
By page 87 they'd reserved the right to modify the agreement at any time without notice
So I agreed to terms that can change after I agreed to them
I've reviewed contracts with better reps and warranties than this
By page 134 they could terminate my account at their sole discretion with no obligation to refund anything
Unilateral termination with no cure period
My board doesn't even have that
No one reads this
They designed it that way
197 pages for an app that tracks my water intake
I've signed deals with shorter contracts
My wife asked why I've been staring at my phone for two hours
I said "a contract disguised as a checkbox"
She looked at the ceiling
Make common sense common again

@AngelMD1103 The technician not part of the court room legal thing. He can't shout at the technician like that. I would say the supervisor should demand apologies from judge otherwise no more tech support for his 'court room'

@PSpicker Simple. Because your article is one of those millions of articles used for core knowledge of AI. Now AI think that as it's own knowledge. Because it was possibly fed without source information, so they wouldn't need legal permissions.
Dear Cadbury,
“From Cadbury this season.”
What season?
Go on, say it.
It’s EASTER. You are selling EASTER eggs for the EASTER SEASON.
How dare you profit off a Christian holiday while erasing its Christian origins.
They are Easter eggs.
It is Easter.
Shame on you.
