@bplusp@hostis_black@CapeCellular@phreeli@cloakedwireless Dyor, but Phreeli and Cloaked are just reselling sims from the big telcos, so there is no really privacy or security benefits. You actually need to operate the network yourself if you want to systemically change things for the better.
Capeโs Chief Architect David Dunn joins @TechloreInc for a technical deep dive into the "black box" of cellular networks. He explains the vulnerabilities inherent in traditional carriers and how Cape features like IMSI rotation and 24-hour data deletion are changing the game for mobile privacy.

@bplusp@hostis_black@CapeCellular Our trust center is the best source for transparency right now: https://t.co/xVuLwE6Uu0
Our blog (https://t.co/lXv1TTKc0e) has posts that go into detail about how everything works.
We have an audit in progress and I hope to open source some of our code too eventually.
I would encourage you to read John's AMA on Reddit where he addresses a lot of this: https://t.co/2pwEOJDbJ5
The company is over 100 people from all walks of life that are tired of carriers not caring about privacy/security and want to build something better.
Existing carriers are terrible for privacy. They collect all your personal information, do deep packet inspection and keep logs of everything you've done and everywhere you've gone for years. They are running legacy technology from a patchwork of vendors with poor security practices which is why they are breached multiple times a year: https://t.co/PpB63tWm4e
We're trying to build a better option from first principles. Controlling the mobile core is what allows us to offer stronger privacy/security gaurantees. Other "privacy" focused MVNO's are just reselling SIM's from one of the big carriers. They can't provide any real privacy/security guarantees other than they don't collect personal information.
Brazil's authoritarian age verification law became active this month. It won't be implemented by GrapheneOS. Complying would require integrating a mandatory process for each user where a third party service checks government identification and confirms a match using the camera.
Giving an age bracket to every app and site used by a child is what's incredibly creepy and disturbing. Think a bit about how that information is going to be abused. It's extremely naive to think the laws mandating only using it to gate access will work.

Probably could be worded better, but this comes from our intl roaming partners. They consider any subscriber that is in a country more than 30 days a permanent roamer and a violation of their terms. Weโre just trying to be up front about it so there are no surprises. Hopefully over time as we get bigger and can do more direct international deals or negotiate better terms this goes away.
@griffin_jason@CapeCellular thanks for the feedback. There are still some places our numbers aren't being accepted, we're working on it, hope to resolve it soon.
