Canada v Morocco angles. Read. 👇🏼

Canada are underdogs in their Round of 16 tie against Morocco today, but there is one area where they may be able to get some joy.

Canada have attempted more crosses than any other side at the World Cup (118), also managing more successful crosses than any other side (29) which works out to a crossing accuracy of 24.58%.

Jesse Marsch sets up his side in a 4-4-2 shape, which is also ideal for sending the ball into the box from wide areas. The two forwards stay quite central which allows Canada to always have vocal points to aim for in the box.

Canada have also won more corners than any other side at the World Cup (39 - 9.75 per game), five more than the next best nation. This is a result of how wide Jesse Marsch wants his side to play, and opens up angles for shots from some lesser expected sources.

One of these players is Derek Cornelius who has benefited from Canada’s willingness to send the ball into the box with at least one shot in all four of his appearances so far (1.43 per 90). He’s priced at 2.0 for a single shot in this one, which feels like a nice price when considering how often Canada send balls into the box and their consistency when it comes to winning corners.

It’s also worth looking at the headed shot on target market more widely for Canada players due to this trait in their game.

Derek Cornelius is priced at 5.50 for a headed shot on target (which is actually the same price as his normal shot on target price, so it’s worth taking that) but these players are also worth keeping an eye on:

J. David 1+ Headed SOT @ 6.50
L. De Fougerolles 1+ Headed SOT @ 15.00
