Children conceived through IVF may have different DNA.
For decades, in vitro fertilization (IVF) has helped millions of families have children, but the earliest days of a lab-conceived embryo may leave a permanent mark.
A study conducted by researchers at Sun Yat-sen University compared blood and umbilical cord samples of 33 children conceived through IVF with those of 42 naturally conceived peers. The findings revealed that the IVF group possessed a slightly higher proportion of LINE-1 DNA sequences.
Famously referred to as 'jumping genes,' these unique genetic segments are capable of replicating themselves and inserting those copies into entirely new locations within the human genome.
While these genomic alterations are subtle, they represent a fascinating molecular signature of assisted conception. Intriguingly, when analyzing three families with both an IVF-conceived child and a naturally conceived sibling, the IVF sibling consistently showed elevated levels of these 'jumping genes.'
While scientists emphasize that these findings do not prove IVF causes harm or directly triggers health issues, some of the altered sites are near genes associated with cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurological pathways.
These preliminary results highlight the need for larger, long-term studies to explore whether the laboratory environment during IVF plays a key role in shaping our genetic blueprint.

Are you wondering about California's grid in this heat wave? At 9:00 p.m., be grateful no one in government had the nerve to follow through on the scheduled close of natural gas power plants. They're producing 51.3% of the electricity used in the state, not counting imports.
A million-mile trucker who called the Tesla Semi "stupid" just drove one fully loaded.
His verdict: "This industry is going to be changed."
He lost 1 mph up a 7% grade, he's straight about the charging trade-off, and then he ran the fleet math: "Why would I buy a diesel truck again?"

“It’s clear now that the universities cannot be trusted. The documentation from the universities themselves indicates beyond any reasonable doubt that they have continued engaging in racial discrimination. In several cases, they’ve been caught planning to do so, admitting to were doing so, hinting at it, and so on. In each case, it’s clear: making racial discrimination illegal was insufficient. We must go further.
Universities must be compelled to affirmatively justify their admissions decisions. They need to publicly provide the data and the model used to select students, and they need to tell us how it works—explicitly—and then show us—verifiably—that they used only the information provided on students’ applications, without proxying race. If they find that to be a too great a burden, then we only have one course of action: defund them. Ban their researchers from grants, ban their students from public loans, take away their tax benefits and accreditations and confiscate their endowments until they become compliant or voluntarily cut themselves off from the public teat. The universities will only learn if it hurts.”
This is what learning looks like at Alpha School South Bay LA. My 7th grade daughter started off with a 3rd grade reading test to start off school. Passed (90%+). Then passed 4th.
But she must have had a gap at 5th grade (tested at 80%). So she spent 6 days catching up and filling gaps, and then passed 5th. Passed 6th the next day.
Now she’s working on 7th grade reading. It wouldn’t surprise me if she gets up to 8th or 9th in reading this year.
That said, she’s still way behind in the other subjects. Our supposedly blue ribbon public schools failed us.
Opening and progress this year:
Math: 4th
Fast Math: 3rd / TBD - she has passed every level so far
Reading: 5th -> 7th
Language: 4th -> 5th
Vocabulary: 4th -> 6th
Science: 3rd -> 4th
So much of growing up is finally realizing that structure is not the opposite of freedom. It’s the thing that keeps freedom from turning into aimlessness.

Got what I voted for again 🥇
UPDATE: We now have the rate details.
And this is much broader than the “millionaires’ tax” initially advertised.
The proposed B.C. provincial rates would increase:
• 16.8% → 18.8% on taxable income from $190,405 to $265,545
• 20.5% → 22.5% from $265,545 to $1 million
• A new 24.5% rate above $1 million
That means the combined federal/B.C. top marginal rate would become an astonishing 57.5%.
And notice where the tax increases actually begin: roughly $190,000, not $1 million.
So much for simply asking “millionaires” to pitch in a little more.
I’ll have much more to say about this.
What we are witnessing in Brazil is the biggest political backfire in modern political history.
Communist tyrants came after Brazil’s Trump, Jair Bolsonaro.
He survived an assassination attempt.
They banned him from running for office.
Then they threw him in jail.
They accused him of attempting a coup after his election was stolen, just like they did here to Trump.
He’s currently serving a 27 year prison sentence.
The response: His wife won a Senate seat. His son Carlos won a Senate seat. His son Renan won a seat in Congress. His son Flávio is ahead of Lula for president of Brazil.
His son could unseat the very tyrant who threw him in jail.
The persecution of Bolsonaro has backfired into a political retribution against those who weaponized Government against the people's will.
You might be able to try to silence a man but you cannot silence a movement.
Dragon drones pour out a fire that water can't put out. It burns underwater, melts straight through steel, and gives soldiers about 10 seconds to run. The recipe was invented in 1893 to weld railroad tracks.
Thermite is just rust mixed with aluminum powder. Hans Goldschmidt created it to fuse rail lines together, and crews still use it for exactly that today. For 130 years it was one of the most boring industrial chemicals on earth. Then someone strapped it to a drone that costs less than an iPhone.
The reason nothing extinguishes it is that the reaction carries its own oxygen. The aluminum rips oxygen atoms straight out of the rust, so there is no air supply to cut off. Water boils before it ever reaches the burn, and if enough water does get through, the molten iron splits it into hydrogen, which also catches fire.
It burns at around 2,200°C. Steel melts around 1,400°C. What's pouring out of these drones is liquid iron, hot enough to drip through armor plate, sandbags, and the tree cover troops hide under.
A 2000 US Army study found soldiers have 3 to 10 seconds to escape before the burns turn fatal. Trenches protect you from blast and shrapnel. Molten iron just pours in and keeps burning downward.
A century of fortification engineering, countered by rust, aluminum shavings, and a hobby drone.
Wake Up America. This is not the Middle East, this is Orange County, California
This is a 3 day festival called the MENA Festival and it’s held in Orange County for Middle Eastern culture
Before the event they have Muslims go to California malls and public areas to raise awareness and get more Americans to attend
Democrats will usher in the Islamic Takeover of America
My opinion is none of this should be allowed. This isn’t celebrating other cultures or diversity, this is normalizing the Islamic takeover of America
We are allowing our own culture to be replaced with foreign culture in our own land
Every morning, before my kids even leave for school, Grok Bot has already made and printed a math worksheet specifically for each of them based on what they’ve been working on at school and what they missed the day before.
My younger son is 5 yrs old, in kindergarten, so his sheet has 30-40 problems personalized for his level, yet challenges him on the things he missed the day before. His addition can go past 10, but subtraction starts small, usually from 10 or under, and only moves up a little once he’s consistently getting those right. His newest sheet, for example, has problems like 15 − 8, but that came after working through the smaller ones first. It changes every day.
My older son is 8 yrs old, in third grade, and his worksheet is 25 problems. What I like most is that for the harder problems he misses, Grok Bot keeps mixing them back in differently over the next few days, whether it’s perimeter, area, larger multiplication problems, or word problems where he earns more points at school. If he misses that type of problem once, there’s a good chance he’s seeing it again the next morning - it doesn't forget.
When they finish their worksheets, I take a picture of each worksheet and send it back to Grok Bot. That’s what it uses to build the next one, so it already knows which problems they got right, where they struggled, and what should come back again instead of starting from scratch every day.
This is better than any math book I've ever bought for them bc Grok Bot writes a new one, tailored for each of them overnight, and when I go downstairs around 6am, these worksheets are already printed and waiting... every single day.
Then during the ride to school I use Grok in my Tesla for anything we need to dive into.
I'm so proud of my kids... and I have a BIG prize waiting for them when they reach worksheet milestones I've set for them.
Grok Bot is so awesome.
Paglia's point is that women have been raised in a way that makes them naïve. They believe that the suburban, middle-class setting is the default condition of the world, and that the rights they have go with them anywhere, even to a foreign country or a bedroom during a drunken party. And this is the part I think about a lot...
Written history is only about 2% of all human history. And this post-1945, "rules-based order" we're living in is only about 2% of written history. And written history comprises things like mountains of skulls, banners made from the skins of enemies, torture as part of the legal system, defiled corpses, and cities given to soldiers for three days of rape and plunder with no rules.
The World Wars industrialized it. None of the progress of the 200 years of "enlightenment" prevented it, either. Keep in mind that Germany and Japan signed the Hague Conventions in 1899 and 1907. Paper rules burn easily. That's what makes the "oh, we've evolved past all of this" argument a load of nonsense.
This postwar order, this illusory anomaly we've lived in for 80 years, was built by people who were scarred by two World Wars in 33 years. Orders are never permanent. Every previous order fell, and this one will too, except we'll have drones and AI to make even bigger mountains of skulls next time.
And this is where Paglia's statements become more important because in a real breakdown, the people with weapons and the will to use them will control the food, fuel, and shelter first. You know who does that the most? Men. The tech level doesn't matter, either. It never has. From melee weapons, through missile weapons, to firearms, to drones, conflict has been the province of men. Testosterone and its resulting aggression reign supreme. They end up dominating everyone who doesn't have resources, and eventually you get stability.
Do you know what's downstream from that? Patriarchy.
That's the irony facing the women that Paglia's discussing here: what they despise the most is the only thing that will save them when this order is gone someday. If you don't believe me, then look at how many patriarchal societies still exist in the world today, or read about the sack of Berlin in 1945.
Paglia is right: women should be treated as adults. And that includes women understanding what their rights are protected by.
When Lauren Friedman showed up at Amherst College, she was surprised to discover that almost every single girl in her dorm and on her athletic team was already taking SSRIs.
Inside jokes about Zoloft & Lexapro were common on campus, and everyone seemed deeply grateful their persistent anxiety and depression from teenage years was magically disappearing from a pharmaceutical drug.
Like her peers, @lololizzle had struggled earlier in life with both anxiety and depression -- so Zoloft seemed like a perfect solution. After all, all of her friends were taking it too, so how bad could it be?
Little did she know, SSRIs are causing a silent epidemic among Gen Zers called Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction, or PSSD. Like untold tens of thousands of other people just like her, Lauren now has completely lost her libido, sensation in her genitals, and even a sense of emotional connection with the people around her... PERMANENTLY.
She says she and others like her were NEVER given informed consent about the risk of developing PSSD, and American doctors will rarely even diagnose the condition at all.
Whether it's birth control being thrown in the faces of teenage girls to magically "regulate your hormones" or Zoloft instantly prescribed to "make you happy," one thing is clear--the young women of Generation Z are being poisoned en masse without any understanding of what may happen to them down the line.
Thomas Aquinas College, Hillsdale, U Dallas, Franciscan: just a few of the places where your teenagers can enjoy the college experience without the level of debauchery common elsewhere. Highly recommend checking them out.
@jonathanccadams Yes. Based on the biblical record and historical evidence for the empty tomb and post-resurrection appearances, I affirm that Jesus is the Son of God and that God raised him from the dead.
