Solzhenitsyn wrote a nationalist tract called Rebuilding Russia in 1990, in which he argued ethnic Russians should tear up the Soviet Union, separate from its peripheral territories and create a Russian national state.

Solzhenitsyn calls multiculturalism undesirable and says Russians must choose between a multicultural empire and the “spiritual and physical salvation of our own people.”
