Hello world. I’m restarting this little project, aka my guide to cycling on a budget / https://t.co/DSYSMb8pYS . Unless there’s huge interest here it will be on Bluesky and Instagram, I think, but let me know. Dave (@davewalker)
A handy guide to avoiding the evil #ULEZ and saving yourself £12.50 a day if you're making single occupancy short journeys under 5km in London.

Cycling Electric is always worth getting hold of if you’re interested in an electric bike. @marksuttonbike has reviewed the best budget electric bikes for commuting.
If you’re in Devon here’s a way to pick up a bargain recycled bike. “Fully serviced, reconditioned bikes are on sale at the Brunel Road recycling centre in Newton Abbot on the first Monday of every month.”

Some people say cycling is expensive.
This bike is currently for sale in a Coventry charity shop for £75. It’d be very low maintenance and perfect for utility cycling.
68% of all trips are under 5 miles; this could cater for many trips for less cost than a full tank of petrol.
I want to share a cost saving tip with you. I am commuting to work for FREE. I’m riding my bike to work. It reliably takes me the same length of time each day. I see the seasons change. I’m in nature. It’s clean. It’s joyful to pass through the park. It’s FREE
Only half of trips are less than 5 miles so queuing like this in London (and I’ve seen it in Bristol and Bath) seems wildly unnecessary.
Let’s help you find a bicycle.
As of today, this trusty bike has now carried me for 25,000 miles, the equivalent of round the world. It's taken me to work, to the shops, meals out, church, friends' houses and on many many cycling holidays. Bikes don't have to be expensive and provide so much freedom!
Really useful thread about bikes - thanks @LindsayPB. I'm probably *slightly* more optimistic about budget bikes with derailleurs (hence @budgetcycling) but lots of excellent points here.
.@swapfiets, the bike subscription service with the blue front wheel, is coming to London. From £12.90 a month, including fixing the bike if need be. https://t.co/r5u6CivQpx Other bike subscription services are available, but this seems good value. https://t.co/v3OvWXYjX4
An exciting moment for me - posting the cover of 'From A to B - A Cartoon Guide to Getting Around by Bike' for the first time. Published by @BloomsburyBooks on 8 July.
