We all need to strive better to understand those we disagree with, regardless of how much we think they are wrong, offensive, or worse. You cannot disagree with something or someone that you don’t understand. Until you understand their perspective, and there position, you are only disagreeing with the fantasy of them that you created. Disagreeing with others thoughtfully and patiently is what we owe to one another as fellow citizens.
Do you have a distinct memory of a fortune cookie fortune? By which i mean any memorable message from a cookie. We all know they stopped being fortunes 20 years ago and resorted to platitudes, milk toast obvious statements of vanilla manifestation mantras. Anyway tell me. I had an amazing one in 2004. Not exactly a fortune but delightful and philosophically challenging. I’ll tell you after I get some responses
young trans identifying kids should be loved and protected like all kids. Young males regardless of their identity, do not have a right to access female spaces. You can disagree, you can try to change the laws and spread the gospel of the primacy of gender identity over all other systems of knowing and viewing the world. But that is very new conception and those who don't agree with it and don't want to be forced to accept and agree with it are not harming young trans identifying males, by standing up for their position and the law.
people on both sides have their morons and also a few gems. Then there is the radical centrists who refuse to claim the center as a third side and demonize those at the poles. Ideological rigidity provides a sense of control, comfort and moral superiority. Navigating a path towards the truth is difficult and of course at times exhausting. @HistoryBoomer does it with joy and intellectual honesty. I get a sense that this pursuit energizes him, but if not, I respect his fatigue more.
How many us laws would be violated for that to happen? you're a lawmaker for f's sake. stick to keeping men out of women's spaces, or make sensible arguments against him (its not hard). This kind of sensational click bate does not become you or advance the conversation about how terrible his policies are.
@CWilliamson44 "most repugnant", it will be more difficult to take you seriously. her comments do not harm trans people in any way, males are not entitled to female spaces. make an argument rather than label someone a transphobe. i will respect you more.
@DudehItsRiza transmen maybe, males never, you can deny sex as a category, but you are no different than a young earth creationist denying scientific evidence.
@iseult somehow i am able to wrap my mind around how Myles was able to think that was a clever and prescient point. i'm sad that i can, but it wasn't all that difficult. keep up the good work iseult
Nobody wants to be the one to say "these people shouldn't come here". It's unpopular to say anything that indicates racism.
But if you've never been to India or Bangladesh, or Pakistan, or any of the places that many of the new migrants are coming from, you cannot claim to know they will treat the environment like foundational Americans will.
The people from those places I mentioned have NO REGARD for the environment whatsoever.
In every country they have migrated to, they have immediately begun to practice the same slovenly, irresponsible practices they did in their homelands.
In the US, especially Texas, in Canada, in Australia (I can especially vouch for the latter) they are going to remote areas and just dumping huge amounts of waste.
If you don't believe me, or you just think I'm filled with hate for no reason, actually do your homework and check. The evidence is there and it's irrefutable.
North America is irreplaceable. I'm biased of course, but it is the most magnificent land on Earth for natural environment and wildlife.
Part of protecting it is going to involve doing things liberals don't want to do, including telling some people they cannot migrate here in vast numbers.
But we all MUST agree on this. We'll only get one shot at it, and if we fail, we'll see our magnificent rivers turn into the filth-clogged waterways we see in India and elsewhere.
@A_M_Seed@irenebritusa being offended on behalf of someone else is not a virtue and def not an argument Ali. Intersex individuals should be treated with compassion like every other human, but they are not in anyway part of a justification for males to participate in sports with females.
“It never happens!”
Since I know you won’t click on a link, I thought I’d screenshot this for you. The website has put it all together. 20,540 female competitions with male athletes. 6760+ first place finishes. 11,505 top 3 finishes. This is page one.
Thank @hecheateddotorg
@HonourableMrLex@ClarksonsFarm1 pretty sure that is a central part of the narrative. I am guessing you have not actually watched it, which is not a great look. But enjoy your sense of moral superiority, probably all you have going for you.
Wokeness types def tried to cancel comedy but like any system the truly skillful can navigate those waters. @anthonyjeselnik I think said it best, the risk of being offensive and finding that line is what makes comedy interesting. The comedians who complained about cancel culture just want their jobs to be easy. The true artist takes advantage of a hostile audience.
