As the democratization of AAA gaming continues.
You will see an escalation in hostility. (We are already seeing it)
You have to ask yourself, if it was truly slop, if it was truly no threat at all, why would people be getting this upset?
Is it perhaps because the games are starting to look like they might be approaching a level of quality comparable to genuinely enjoyable indie games?
Or is it because people actually want to play these AI games that people are creating, because sometimes they have genuine taste and deliberate art direction in them?
Most of these people do not understand the architecture of a transformer, let alone how successive attention and feed forward blocks refine its internal representations.
Ask them how attention routes information between token positions, how MLPs perform nonlinear feature transformations, and yet they will still scream “slop” or “stolen art” without having the slightest clue how any of this works.
actually someone literally sued Anthropic over this in June. the lawsuit claims that Claude Max’s usage limit marketing is misleading
based on Anthropic’s own weekly estimates in the lawsuit:
5x plan: ~3.5x Pro weekly
20x plan: ~6x Pro weekly
you pay 2x: get ~1.7x more weekly usage
and this is before Fable.
the lawsuit claims Anthropic sells “5x / 20x more usage” but the weekly limits aren’t meaningfully explained in the purchase flow.
*the case is still ongoing so these are allegations, not a court finding yet.
