If people from reserved categories are now reaching India’s highest constitutional and judicial offices, shouldn’t we review whether reservation is still serving its original purpose?

Should reservation now be abolished or limited to those who are financially weak, regardless of caste?

PM Modi coined the term Panchteerth (five holy sites), referring to five key locations associated with Ambedkar. The govt identified, restored, and presented them as a unified pilgrimage circuit to honor his life and legacy.

These are: his birthplace at Mhow (Janmabhoomi), his London residence (Shiksha Bhoomi), Nagpur, where he accepted Buddhism (Deeksha Bhoomi), his last residence in Delhi (Mahaparinirvan Bhoomi), and his cremation site in Mumbai (Chaitya Bhoomi).

The initiative involves spending running into thousands of crores; for instance, about ₹800 crore was spent on purchasing and converting the London house into a museum.

Now, some state govts like MP, Rajasthan have incorporated Panchteerth into their free pilgrimage schemes. The Rajasthan govt sent a group of pilgrims last year to these sites, including London, free of cost, with eligibility restricted to members of the Dalit community.

The way Ambedkar Jayanti is becoming a bigger event with each passing year, I think, in the coming years, it'll become the biggest festival in India, much like Chinese New Year for China or Thanksgiving for the US.

It could turn into a seven-day festival, with schools and offices organizing events to commemorate it each day. Indian migrant workers might start returning from abroad to celebrate it. We might even begin inviting foreign heads of state to attend, much like on Republic Day. The state currency could feature Ambedkar, and every year there could be a new tallest statue of Ambedkar, each one taller than the last.

Both videos are from Baba Baidyanath Dhaam, Deoghar. The first shows how common devotees are treated, and the second shows how VIPs are treated.

This is same in most of the famous temples. This difference must end. You can’t expect unity and brotherhood in a religion if the rich and powerful receive pampered treatment at temples while ordinary devotees are treated like an inconvenience.

I understand that the sheer number of devotees makes it difficult to give everyone ample time, but things can still be managed with dignity, through better crowd management, token or time-slot systems, clearly marked queues, and strict enforcement of the same rules for everyone. Whatever is decided for the common people, the same rules should apply to the rich and powerful as well.
