If you deployed during the GWOT, you already know.

Somewhere on the FOB was a little bazaar where you could buy every movie ever made for about $2. 😂

And I'm talking about movies that weren't even in theaters yet.
You'd walk in and this dude had:
🎬 300
🎬 Black Hawk Down
🎬 The Hangover
🎬 Transformers
🎬 Every season of The Sopranos
🎬 47 movies supposedly starring Jason Statham.

All on DVDs with covers that looked like they were printed on an HP DeskJet running out of ink.
And quality?

TOTAL GAMBLE.

You might get:

🎬Option A: Perfect movie.

🎞Option B: Somebody recorded it inside a theater and halfway through, a dude stands up and walks directly across your screen.

🎥Option C: Movie starts in English…15 minutes later everybody's speaking Russian.

🎟Option D: The DVD menu says FAST & FURIOUS 4…

You press PLAY…

It's Shrek. 😂

But the absolute best was buying an entire TV series on ONE DVD.

Brother, that disc contained 74 hours of television, three viruses, and probably classified information.

And somehow…

THAT $20 DEPLOYMENT DVD PLAYER PLAYED EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM.

Meanwhile, your $1,500 laptop back home:

"Unable to read disc."

GWOT veterans didn't have Netflix.
