@DestinyNostalgi@NuCaloric It's also impossible to talk about since almost nobody wants to have a good faith discussion about it. I do love Destiny 2 for what it is, as the form Destiny as a franchise took, but it's not what Destiny was and what Destiny was is what I was truly enamored with.
@T1Babs This saga of ignoring Rise of Iron is gonna get even more funny if we do ever see a Destiny 3 because I have a feeling all the Fate Saga stuff is going to get the same treatment 😭
@darthyucky@Crimsn_ I think what precipitated this outburst was the fact that Myelin got mistreated by Bungie management whilst working on said anthologies. I feel like his resentment for Destiny has been building ever since and the dam finally burst now that everybody has their knives out.
@darthyucky@Crimsn_ To be honest, back in the day I felt like Byf was more insistent on his read of the lore while Myelin was happier to present his take with the caveat that it could be wrong, and I respected that. Byf is great too of course, he's a pillar of the community for a reason.
@myelingames@Aztecross Disappointing to lash out at everyone for the insolence of a few. As a fan of both games, and someone who has a lot of nostalgia for your videos, it's sad to see things come to this.
Reflecting on an amazing run for a franchise. I hope it continues to live on, if not in its current form, in people’s friendships and memories.
I thought it would be nice to share a few of my favorite Destiny concepts that I was fortunate enough to help bring to life. Featuring the incredible talents of Jaime Jones, Dorje Bellbrook, Joseph Cross, Mark Goldsworthy - 1/6
@NuCaloric I would love another pass at the initial premise. I always felt like Destiny's mystery was chopped up in the move to D2, which had more of a flashy blockbuster vibe to its visuals and storytelling, by and large. I enjoyed it, but it was that starting idea that gripped me most!
I really think I'd rather a reboot over a prequel/sequel if a D3 somehow happens. So much of Destiny's setting relied on the Darkness being this constant unknown in the background, and actually confronting it kinda killed the world imho
Fan film by Kennon Fleisher :)
its simple corpo slimedroid behavior
- execs negotiate buyback from activision
- start a bunch of new projects as anl newly indie studio, signals vitality to the megacorps
- execs start to shop themselves around to a buyer
- "we have a premiere live service title and look how many projects we have on the works guys, we're gonna be worth so much in x years when they release you should buy us now for (value projected based on future revenue) and reap the reward!"
- megacorp takes the bait, in this case sony
- old execs get massive payout in aqcuisition, to be paid out after a set time
- turns out the projects were either vaporware or way out beyond the scope of what they could actually achieve
- old execs stay on, viciously cutting costs and firing people to keep the revenue stream sasifsctory to guarantee that payout
- payout hits, old execs dip and swap in new leadership to be left holding the bag
- new team manages to spit one of the projects out out, likely out of contratcual obligation
- its actually half decent, but doesnt recoup losses or hit mass appeal, leaving the conglomerate and new leaderhsip is left holding the bag while whats left of the company will be restructured to recoup as much as possible for sony
