@Heatherknight55 You don’t…you live with it for weeks whilst it fades 😢 Source: 16 year old me who got hauled to the principal’s office for having an unnatural hair colour. I pointed out that the patch on my head was obviously not deliberate. They let me off as it was a “cultural experience”.
@ruskin147@DrLockheart Took 3 weeks for our rescue to even put one paw out the door. *Everything* was a challenge for her but worth it, the first time she wagged her tail on a walk was 🥹
@gregjames@amistlin Never really got loyalty to a breakfast DJ until those sad early days of the pandemic and finding a voice that distracted from but never dismissed the grimness. Joy and absolute nonsense of the best kind 👌🌶
@bbc5live Please do not let the current speaker on your programme try and conflate trans women and murderers. It is absolutely vile, and deflects from actual (rather than imagined) violence against women. A safe space for women includes being a safe space for trans women.
@gregjames You mentioned Midsomer Murders this morning and then Jodie Comer obviously being a main suspect…I presume you’re aware of this incredible crossover https://t.co/JJ16xKLcyN
@girlontheriver I think of rowing as a continuous “forget what you learnt in GCSE history, here’s A level history” moment. You learn the GCSE stuff to get you to a basic ability, then come back and interrogate it with new teaching only to discover the original explanation was oversimplified!
@fatsculler 🙋🏼♀️ Q: Are these athletes funded throughout the olympic cycle like GB? i.e. are you rewarding people who have paid their own way and have another job, unlike GB athletes who are (I think) in essence paid to train?
@miguelblanco85 @matthewcpinsent Oh totally, I don’t expect anyone to form a trusting relationship with a horse immediately so the luck is whether you get one that happens to be better suited to your style, it’s very personal and why the top riders spend YEARS training theirs. The random draw is good for no one.
@Lou_1283@miguelblanco85 @matthewcpinsent Yes totally agree, a lot of pulling and pushing at the same time 🤦♀️ Most horses I’ve ridden would’ve had them all on the floor by now, they’re still quite a patient bunch.
@miguelblanco85 @matthewcpinsent Don’t get me wrong though, agree that it’s not good for athlete or animal. But it is not the horse’s fault or for lack of training on either part.
@ObeseManRowing (2/2) and that you have a job that can fit around training. The barriers we build up in club rowing are often around who we assume a “typical” club member is. We can help with scholarships to cover ongoing costs (trying this with juniors) but can see why someone would be put off.
@ObeseManRowing Been following this thread with interest. Agree club level rowing basic cost makes it seem very accessible BUT…if you progress, the costs of kit, entries, training camps, hotels etc do mount up. Not to mention assuming you can take time off for camps and big comps (1/2)
