One thing about living in the bay area is going somewhere and seeing a billboard for a regular tv show and feeling a weird sense of relief or excitement
I genuinely don’t believe anyone wants hyperpersonalized media. People YEARN for communal viewing. Barbenheimer. Game of Thrones. Heated Rivalry. Part of the thrill is other people experiencing it with us. We should be bringing back appointment tv and 90 day theatrical releases
last night I had a dream about an Alien game that scared you so bad it gave you diabetes. The developer showed me a demo but turned down the difficulty setting so I wouldn't be hurt, but no one would answer my question about why they made it give you diabetes
i will defend mixtape: that clip going around of the no fail state running? imo it actually shows multiple fail states. sometimes the point of a linear narrative is to act out ie “play” the scene so it feels right. not controlling and letting stacey crash looks bad! failure!
@kojimahead thank you. so many people getting got by what is essentially the mario 64 meme. Like yeah, it does suck when I don’t do anything and let it be boring, but I have fun when I press the buttons that make it cooler
@luke21357 To be clear, I'm not trying to convince you it's good. Just trying to get on the same page about the sequence being a ridealong to a fantasy, which I think we actually agree on now. Whole other convo to be had about whether we feel the punishment/rewards do justice to that choice
@luke21357 The fantasy is doing that perfectly. Just like a rhythm game still passes you for being just okay but the fun is getting it perfect. The devs could have gone further to make the punishment animations more dramatic, but it's a valid design choice to not derail after a mistake.
