🇸🇦 Meeting between Malcolm X and King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia, 1964.
"In 1964, Malcolm X traveled to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage to fulfill his religious duty and experience the universal message of Islam firsthand. Upon his arrival at Jeddah Airport, his 'status as a true Muslim' was questioned due to his US passport and unrecognized visa status, leading to the temporary confiscation of his passport and his detention. However, once King Faisal was informed of the situation, Malcolm X was declared a state guest and received the highest level of hospitality; he was allocated a palace and held official meetings with the royal family. Witnessing people of all races praying side-by-side during this journey led him to abandon the rigid racial ideologies of the Nation of Islam, embrace the supra-racial brotherhood of Islam, and complete his transformation as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz."
An Arabic proverb says; “Keep your house clean like you're expecting guests.Keep your heart clean like you're expecting death.” This hits deep, a reminder we often forget.
