Completely agree with this take. Trump is the result of 100+ years of other branches ceding power to the executive, sometimes for good reasons, but it clearly needs reigning in. Not that it excuses Trump but he’s exposed the weaknesses
If there’s one plus to the Trump era it’s the screaming Red Alert example he’s made that we’ve let the power of the President get completely out of control. To “make America great again” we need the restoration of the 3-branch Constitutional triad that diffuses power&authority.
Trump's track record since inauguration:
Gasoline: +24%
Diesel: +58%
jet fuel: +106%
CPI: 3.0% → 3.5%
Beef: +12.9%
coffee retail: +17.5%
tomatoes: +32%
lettuce: +24.9% (and now with 7000% more diarrhea)
Strategic Petroleum Reserve: 172 million barrels gone
Extra tax Cost per household: $0 → $760–$1,500/yr, regressive
tariffs cut 2026 GDP growth by 0.4 pp and leave the economy persistently 0.3% smaller (~$100B/yr)
Wars with Iran: 0 → 1
Strait of Hormuz problems: 20% decreased oil availability
Unemployment: 4.0% → 4.2%
Labor force participation: 62.6% → 61.5%
Reconciliation act (OBBBA): +$4.1 trillion to deficits over 2025–2034 with debt service
Deficit path: $1.9T (FY26) → $3.1T (2036); debt to 120% of GDP
Net interest: crossed $1 trillion for the first time
Measles: 285 cases (2024) → 2,289 (2025, highest since 1991) → 2,231 already by July 9, 2026 (~+700% vs. 2024 annualized)
Measles outbreaks: 16 → 49;
Measles deaths: 0 to 4
consumer sentiment: ~71–74 → 49.8 in April — the lowest in the survey's 73-year history
Trump approval: 47% → 39%
Economy approval: -31% (33/64)
But don't worry, Trump made billions on crypto and stealing from taxpayers.
This is dead on, art should not be defined by those who consume it, they should be defined by the artist. If people don’t like it that’s their prerogative but chasing the idea of making art to keep the most fans happy is how you end up with shit
George Lucas explains that “the audience doesn’t know what they want to see” in a new interview.
“If they don’t like a character, that’s interesting, and as a filmmaker I want to find out why. But when the studios hear that, they take the wrong message. They let the audience actually make the movie. Of course, now they go crazy with that. Now, it’s all about what the fans think. That isn’t how you make the movie. You make a movie by finding someone that knows how to make movies, that has a story to tell and is passionate about it.”

Ballgame over, Tampa Bay wins. 3-0 is your final at Tropicana Field.
The Yankees are 5-15 since June 18, worst record in @MLB over that span. Also 56 runs scored, MLB worst.
@mike_petriello Neither is good or well liked by Yankee fans I think the frustration is higher with Volpe because we’ve been trotting him out there for 3+years with no discernible improvement or plan to supplement
It’s a somewhat arbitrary endpoint but illustrative of the errors and ineffectual leadership of the front office. Stats and eye test have shown for a long time Volpe isn’t a major leaguer and they do nothing because it’s easier to say you’re being patient.

This is great. As fucked as things have been I still believe the dream of America and the principles that we were founded on. Like Matt says we need skeptics not cynics to help bring us back from the brink
Ossoff: "Just think, 250 years on, what the Founders would see if they visited us today. *crowd groans* But wait -- they would see that slavery had been abolished. They would see that Americans without land, and then women, and then the descendants of slaves had secured voting rights ... "
Well guess I can retract my earlier statement. Doing the same thing and expecting different results after what’s going on a decade of not seriously competing is dumb
As a Spieth fan glad to see this if only because he’s trying to address his now longstanding deficiencies. He keeps doing the same thing and expecting 2015 Jordan to show up and it’s not working
The @Yankees' Cam Schlittler:
2025 WC vs. Bos: 12 K, 0 BB, 0 R
Tonight vs. Cin: 13 K, 0 BB, 0 R
He's the only pitcher in MLB history to have a scoreless start with 12+ strikeouts and no walks in both the regular season and the postseason.
